Will my EVGA 850 G3 be enough for a 3080 + 10850k? I've heard of SuperNOVA issues.

I understand that the superNOVA series features a wide variety of different OEM manufacturers. In the case of my G3 850w I am 99% sure it's a Super Flower Leadex platform.

However, I have read that some units were having issues with the new 3080/3090 cards. Is this model one of them?

I own the EVGA Individually sleeved cable kit so if it doesn't work I'd like to get another PSU that those cables fit with a higher wattage if need be. Such as, G3, T2, P2. etc.

It should be fine .How old is it ?

No one has been able to nail down exactly what is happening to the 30xx series cards. ( mostly it looks like the 3090's though - which are extreme power suckers. )

Not exactly a 1:1 comparison but I have an i7 7820x that pulls 200 watts @ 4.6ghz with an FE 3090 that pulls 400 watts and haven't had any real issues. Early on I would get the temporary black screen but it would never require a reboot, it was like the card disconnected then reconnected to the monitor. Now after a few driver updates it's been 100% stable and have even overclocked the card a bit to boot.

    CPU: I7 7820x @ 4.7ghz
Mobo: Gigabyte Gaming 7 Pro x299
    Mem: Corsair Vengeance LP 3000mhz
    PSU: EVGA 850 Supernova G3
    GPU: FE Nvidia RTX 3090
    Case: Corsair 5000d Airflow
CPU Cooler: EKWB AIO 360 Elite

How old is your PSU and I assume you have an 850 G3 too?

No issues should be expected with an 850 G3.

Okay, thank you. I had browsed this forum and saw a host of people experiencing shutdowns/blackscreens, etc: https://forums.evga.com/We-need-to-have-a-thread-of-what-PSU-people-have-and-RTX-3080-or-3090-and-is-WORKING-m3118557-p8.aspx

Certain power supplies were causing issues among many manufacturers with the 30 series, due to how they handle power. All of our currently available power supplies will not have any such issues with the 30 series at this point.

My girlfriend has an older CPU but the same PSU and a 3080 and it works really good.
