Hi,

the end of my stepup period is coming closer and I'm still unsure what to do, and what options I may have:

- right now, I have a 3080 FTW3 running & ready for a step-up to a 3090 FTW3.

Now the 3090 might be a tad "too much" card for my purposes and the 3080Ti is supposed to be just around the corner.

As I'm sure there'd be a rather long waiting time for a new card anyhow, is it possible to apply for a 3090 step-up and "switch" to a 3080Ti in the case it gets available as a valid option in the meantime?

Radical_53, you can start Step-Up process now and decide later what best for you: to buy 3080 Ti and sell your current 3080 or to Step-Up to 3090.

EVGATech_ChristianJFor the Step-Up program, you can't switch what queue you are in. You would leave your current queue and then join the queue of the card you want. To join in to a new queue, you would have to be within the original 90 days of purchase for the Step-Up program. If your outside of those 90 days, you can't rejoin.
Just wondering what happens if product selected to Step-Up become discontinued...

Perfect, thanks guys! That's actually a very good option I hadn't thought about before. Thanks, that could really solve it for me :)

Hi, don't know if anyone can answer my question,

I get this message in the details for my 3070 XC3 ULTRA GAMING, does it mean I can't get a step up?

''The EVGA Step-Up allows you to upgrade your product within 90 days of your original purchase date. For details, look over our  section under Support.

If Step-Up status is currently “In-Queue” there is no ETA when you will receive the step-up product and we are not able to give any information about your current position in queue. Once we have secured a product for you, you will receive an email from our system with the next steps. Our Customer Service or Sales agents do not have any estimated arrival date.''

This product is not available for Step-Up. Please read the terms and conditions of our Step-Up program.

Did you register your card within 14 days after purchase? If not - you have to by Extended Warranty to be eligible for Step Up within 90 days since purchase.

I noticed it after, I exceeded the 14 day and bought the extra warranty to get the step up. Thank you though for letting me know.

You can change your step up anytime during the 90 day window, but you will be at the end of the line each time you change.  Also, although the 3080 TI is coming out, it may not be a model you can step up to.  Only EVGA knows what is available and when.  When you look at what is available to step up to, I know I saw the 3070 FTW3 Ultra, 3080 FTW3 Ultra, and the 3090 FTW3 Ultra.  So, even if the 3080 TI comes out, it may or may not be a model you can step up to.  Good luck with your decision.

Huh 3080 to the ti. Man this step up program sounds pretty nice. How long does it take for the step up?

Also what happens with todays market? Do they factor your invoice price or what the "MSRP" is at time of step up? What happens if you enter step up and the card you wants price goes up?

They use the MSRP by EVGA.  I paid 50 bucks over at my local and they gave me credit for what they set as the MSRP.  It was still better than waiting or trying to get a 3090 outside.  If the price goes up, you will need to pay that amount when your option to step up comes around.  They don't charge you anything up front so really they can move that price around and there's not much you can say.  But I have to share that I feel that the step up program is a real benefit to the user.  If you are trying to get on of those highly sought after cards, getting it through the step up can make if faster depending on what you are stepping up to.  The 3090 step up program is almost up to current dates meaning if you register now, there's a good chance you'll get a card within a couple of months.  My step up was registration for the 3090 in early April, received step 2 email mid April, and then I sent in my card about a week later and got back my new 3090 this past Monday.  If you are looking at the 3080, the wait is much longer as I believe they are still working on the registrations from September of 2020.  It will all depend on what you want to do and do you have the financial means to go to a higher level of card if you want it quicker.

The main reason would be VRAM for me. Right now I'm sitting in the 3090 queue but I have no hurry.

Wowzers September. I mean I guess everyone and their cousin who couldn't get a 3080 was buying a 2070S 2080 and 2080S and immediately requesting a step up as an alternative way to get a 3080

It's not only the older series of cards.  If I bought  a 3060 i would look to step up to at the minimum a 3080 if costs could be covered. I bought a 3070 because that's what was available with a shorter wait from my local PC store.  The wait list at that shop for a 3080 was over 6 months so I didn't want to wait and have the rest of the parts for a new build sitting there.  I really wanted the 3080 because the price to performance for what I wanted it for would have been better than the 3070 or the 3090.  In the end, I just went with the 3090 because I wanted increased performance, more VRAM for extending the useful life of my GPU, and it would be available way sooner than the 3080.  I am fortunate that I could cover the price difference, but I don't see prices going down anytime soon.  Plus with the increased VRAM and performance, i should be able to get a little more use of this as this card ages and newer games come out with increased performance requirements.  All that added up to me as a no-brainer to go to the 3090 through the step up program.
