Yes if going ultrawide, it makes sense to go curved.

By the way, LG-38GL950-G greatest monitor on the market rn.

Something about a PS5 with no games to buy

I've had a flat and curved monitor before. Curved isn't for everyone, and takes getting used to, but if you like it you love it. Still, I think flat screen is the way to go.

Oh, also the best 1440p monitor I found is the ASUS VG27AQ (don't tell EVGA).

Depends on size. 27 inch or less doesn’t really make a difference if it’s curved or flat

I'd say it's optional, more of a preference thing. I personally prefer flat.  If it has a large curve it might take time getting used to it though.

I ended up buying the 32 inch LG UltraGear (32GP83B) yesterday from BB ($499) - I wanted to get a 4k but I'm still rockin a 1080Ti until supply issues resolve or I can get lucky enough to get a 3090 or 3080Ti. It's my first new monitor since a mid 2000's 1080 dell screen I've had forever and I must say the difference is amazing.

The 1080Ti can handle a monitor at 4K.
And a 32" is the minimum I'd recommend at that resolution.  27" just being nigh unreadable at 4K.

yes because curve is more immersive, like the eyeball, eyeball = immersion.

Looking at a 34" curved LG for my next. I'm not dying for 4k, but curious what people who use one think of it for more everyday tasks like spreadsheets...

At $1600? No thanks. I've got my eye on the LG 34GP83A-B. It seems great for what you get at $800.

Curved is the only way to go. You don't realize how nice it is, especially with ultrawides, until you use it a few days

Yeah.  Had I known about the problems I'd have on a 27" monitor at 4K, I'd have gone for MUCH cheaper 1440P monitors instead, rather than dealing with Windows screen magnification.

Or I'd have dropped the $1600 I spent on a single large-scale monitor.

If I were buying now, I'd take a serious look at one of these:

Flat is the way to go. The exclusivity starts to wear off but it's not a bad thing. It just preference. I would suggest going to a friend thay has one or even using it I'm store to see if it's something your okay with getting use to or not.

I would suggest ASUS, Gigabyte, LG or Xiaomi. These are the best in the market right now

I have been using a curved monitor for awhile now, I like it well enough, but I am not sure if I will get another one when it's time to upgrade. Sometimes I wish I had more height than width, especially working on programs like zbrush.

I've tried curved monitors, but never really enjoyed using them. Flat for me, thanks.
