Don't they have a plastic underside like almost every other mass-produced keyboard?

Trying to decide between Z20 and Z15 for my son. Said he does not use the macro keys on his current Logitech keyboard.
Has anyone received the Z15 and your opinion.

Question: what is the key scan rate of the z20 keyboard?

This is different from polling rate which we know is already at 4khz. Key scan is how often a key is "pinged" to the processor per second whereas polling is how many times the processor sends a signal to the computer per second.

Corsair has has both a polling rate and key scan rate listed as 4khz on their website. What is the key scan rate of this keyboard?

I went with the Z15...really like it.  Here is a thread I created...answering some questions, etc.

Anyone know what the z20 4000hz report rate means?

Does it mean the polling rate only? Or does it mean both the polling rate and key scan rate is 4khz (like the corsair K100)?

I didn't get a chance to shovel the inch of snow out of my driveway this morning so the UPS driver decided to just drive right on by and click the "emergency/undeliverable" button...guess I'll get my new keyboard and mouse tomorrow.

Edit: just to be clear...not really mad at the driver. I don't want the guy falling in my semi-steep driveway and hurting himself or anything. That would be terrible. I was just bummed I didn't get a chance to fix it for him this morning.

Does the Z15 have the USB pass thru in the back?

Judging by the photos, only the Z20 has the audio jack, which is fine, but the lack of USB on the Z15 may be a deal breaker for me.

It's hard to justify the price on the Z20 with so many features that I do not need, like macro buttons and the ToF sensor. My rig is several feet off the ground (I have a two year old) and away from my keyboard/mouse setup. The Z10 has a long, quality cord, and plugging the mouse into the keyboard makes so much of my life easier, as I only want to use cordless mice at work, not home. I may just stick with my convenient Z10 until it dies and hope EVGA has some new offering by then.

Z15 does NOT have a USB pass thru.  Perhaps the Z10 is best, rather than pay for a lot of features you won't use...

What is the différence between z15 and z20?

Z20 has the T.O.F sensor as well as macro keys, side RGB bars and your choice of linear or "clicky" keys while the z15 has hot swappable key switches also in linear and "clicky" options

Hello Impereos  The key scan rate for the Z20 comes in at 4000hz, same as the polling rate.

My Z20 arrived today (Snow delay of five days) and the two x17's.

Coming from a CM Storm Ultimate to this is going to take some time for me. The keys seem a tad closer together and I find I am hitting the wrong keys or multiple more often.

I am pretty darn happy with the X17 so far... Kind of reminds me of the old G-9 mouse...

Hello and welcome to the pc gaming world. High end keyboards can have features and specs that can help with gaming or simply give you a personalized way to have thing set up for your rig. If you are new to pc gaming and looking for a new keyboard, please try looking at some review videos of keyboards that grab you attention and possibly have features you are looking for like switch type and rgb enabled or not.

Great! Thanks for taking the time to help. I'm considering the z20 but am concerned about how noisy it is based on some of the reviews.

That is a legitimate concern. I've been gaming for many years, but I never had a mechanical keyboard like this. The Z20 is optical-mechanical, but it still has the same type of physical design/movement (the actual switch actuation is made optically instead of through mechanical contacts though). If you've never had a mechanical-switch keyboard before, you should do some research on that to see if you're willing to deal with the trade-offs. There are benefits to mechanical style that are worth it for many gamers, but if you had to do a ton of typing, I'd be pretty hesitant to go with a keyboard like this. Just to be clear, this noise is not a problem with EVGA's keyboard specifically, it is just a byproduct of the mechanical switch keyboards in general. Some other videos to help: video1. video2 (he says "PCB Board" at some point *shudders in EE*...sorry...he has some great info after that)

Personally I like the sound of a mechanical keyboard. It takes me back to the 80’s when everything was a mechanical switch and I personally love the feel of typing on the Z20. With the mechanical keyboards you press down and feel the resistance give and the keystroke happens before the key cap bottoms out. With modern keyboards you are pushing down on a rubber mat between the key cap and the PCB. When fully pushed down it pushes a hole in the rubber and completes a circuit but you are bottoming out the key cap. It’s better on the finger to not have keys bottom out since it’s a sudden point that you can’t push down anymore so mechanical are better for typing longer on. Of course you get that sound of the keys moving. As I said I don’t mind it since it takes me back to my childhood and I feel only really bad if you are in a room with others and mostly if someone else is using the keyboard. When I am using it I know I am pressing a key and expect the sound.

It’s also good to know a lot of typists like the clicky switches more then the liner switches. When they hear that click they know to stop pushing and can type faster as a result.

It use to back in the old days matter more but sometimes cheaper keyboards only allow a small number of simultaneous Key presses at a time, which if you’re moving around with wasd plus having other stuff going on can give you issues. Other than that it’s very much a preference thing.

I currently have a Ducky one 2 mini, and while I've gotten used to it and love the keys I wish I would have gotten one with dedicated F keys and arrow keys. I feel like that's the sweet spot for a gaming keyboard - small but still very functional.
