Minecraft Not Responding On My Son’s PC.

I recently built a gaming rig for my son on his birthday. The PC configuration I went with is as follows:
i3 10th gen
16 GB RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Super
I expected most games to work on this rig, and most of them I tried does work. However, Minecraft is responding. It is also his favorite game. Does anyone know why this happens and how can I fix it. Any help will be appreciated.

    What motherboard? What PSU?
     
    regardless, not responding? Does it hang? Does it not even start? What have you tried? Have you updated all drivers from the manufacturers? Have you fully updated windows?
    Does the current version of minecraft (I haven't played this in YEARS..no idea what's going on with it) need 20H2 Windows 10?

    Microsoft integrated Minecraft into Windows 10 since they bought them out.... Are you using an older version or the one you get thru Microsoft store .?

    Thanks for replying. Yes, Windows is updated, the version is 20H2. Minecraft is also updated and it is the Java version that I am using. The motherboard is Gigabyte B460M, although I don’t think it matters here.
    Minecraft is starting but it shows a black screen and then Windows shows the not responding error.

    Might want to try right clicking on Minecraft and try running it as an administrator. It could also be that Microsoft wants people to run the Windows store version now.

    Java should get installed by the Minecraft setup from what I understand, it's not native to Windows..You can look in Control Panel -> Programs and Features to see if it's there, if not, then you can go here to grab the latest Java version to install..I would uninstall an older version before installing a new/newer version..Maybe you just need to install Java Runtime, that's all.

    Yep, if your using that older java version you'll be running into issues on Windows 10 .

    Thanks for helping out everyone, but I finally figured out the issue. After searching on Google I found (digicruncher.com/minecraft-launcher-not-responding/).  Decided to disable Discord overlay on my son’s PC and Minecraft started working correctly. Never expected Discord to be the issue here. Thanks everyone for giving me your time.

    Try control enter after launching with admin, to take it out of full screen
