Mass Effect Legendary Edition Arrives May 14 | TechPowerUp
 
One person is all that stands between humanity and the greatest threat it's ever faced. BioWare, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. today revealed that the Mass Effect Legendary Edition will launch May 14 worldwide on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition features the single-player base content and 40+ downloadable content (DLC) story, weapons and armor packs from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 and will allow players to relive the legend of Commander Shepard in 4K Ultra HD with HDR.

"It's been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original," said Mac Walters, Project Director on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and lead writer of the original trilogy at BioWare. "Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there's over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard."
 
The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will deliver an enhanced visual experience featuring remastered character models and tens of thousands of up-ressed textures. Improvements to shaders and VFX, updated lighting and improved dynamic shadows, volumetrics and depth-of-field add a new level of immersion across the trilogy. Pre-rendered cinematics have also been enhanced to make every story moment feel even more impactful.

The original Mass Effect game features comprehensive world-building enhancements with added detail and depth to locations like Eden Prime, Ilos and Feros that players will explore in their journey across the galaxy. Mass Effect also includes updated interfaces and UI as well as a variety of quality of life improvements. In addition, combat and exploration are modernized through improved aiming, squad controls and behavior, Mako handling and cameras.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition features unified character creation options that persists across all three titles and is complete with an improved and expanded selection of hair, makeup and skin tone options. The iconic Female Shepard default appearance from Mass Effect 3 is now available as the default female Shepard appearance in character creation in all three games, further adding to the unified experience across the trilogy.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB and is available now for pre-order on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

It appears to not be anything too special at all. I am sure reshade mods & others have done just as good , if not better.  Pretty sure this was only done to release for the new consoles  ( cash grab  )

It really wont, there will be a limited amount, then it will be about luck. Its pretty much a fan packed with art and a helmet with no game. If this is what I am thinking it is. If its just a collection of games yup it will come down at some point and may even make it to the epic store free bin. LoL

Will this be a Skyrim Legendary vs Special Edition thing again? Do you think that they might give it away for free to people who already have the original mass effect series?

Mass Effect was a game I always said I was saving for some point in the future. Never did end up playing it. Now that I'm older I find my backlog of games far exceeds my time to play them.

Mass Effect 2 was amazing. ME3 was a load of cinematic crap where you played 20% of the time and watched cinematics the rest. Incredibly boring and clunky overall.

If you want to play more than one part, start with ME1 because it will look so bad and boring if you try playing it after finishing ME2.

 I played the first but never got around to 2 and 3.  Looking forward to using this as a chance to play through the series.

Didn't even knew there is a new one coming. Will be interesting to see if that is so.
I think a lot of people will like this series if they, as promise, modify and modernise Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 was awesome, really great, and Mass Effect 3 was a bit weaker than ME2, but still an enjoyable experience, apart the ending setup and the endings.
 
Would have loved more how everything you have done comes into play rather than just be a number check. And then... different coloured endings. .

ME2 is definitely my favorite of the series. I just started my LE playthrough and am only about 11 hours into ME1 but can't wait to get back to ME2!

Could never beat the end of 3 when staggering like a drunk fool trying to snipe with a pistol

I'm gonna wait for it to be on EA Play.
