The Epic Games Store will continue to deliver free games every week in 2021 | OC3D News (overclock3d.net)

In the company's "Epic Games Store 2020 Year in Review" blog post, Epic Games confirmed that they plan to continue giving away free games on their Epic Games PC storefront throughout 2021.

These games will continue to be given away weekly, which means that PC gamers will have the opportunity to redeem at least 52 free games on the Epic Games Store before the end of 2021.

Epic Games has confirmed that they now have 160 million users registered on the Epic Games Store, reporting that the storefront has seen its daily active user numbers increase by 192% during 2020. In 2020, the Epic Games Store saw its daily active users increase to 31.3 million, and peak concurrent player counts as high as 13 million. In 2019, the Epic Games Store's peak player count was 7 million.

Love it or hate it, the Epic Games Store has proven to be a success, and Epic Games plans to continue to expand their PC gaming storefront as 2021 progresses. In 2021, Epic Games plans to add support for achievements to their platform, price-adjusting bundles to their storefront, support for more currencies and additional features like sure reviews and game gifting support. Epic Games also plans to launch an independent Android storefront in the longer-term, allowing Epic Games to distribute games on Android more directly.

For people stuck at home for the pandemic this is a very brilliant offer.

I have switched to the dark side and installed Epic Client.  My retired uncle plays Fortnite on his PS4 he bought for when the grandkids come over.  And he said he wasn't good enough for them to play with him, so I did it to try and teach him how to get better.  Never played it before.  First game with him my game crashed right after the drop, second game we died to the first storm because he wouldn't stop looting before it was to late and kind of cool i could go back and carry him.  But that led to me dying to the storm.  Third game we got the victory!

I have entirely too many free games that I will probably never play, but always ready for something I might end up playing.

Yes, I feel the same. I take many games with me because they are free and I already know: I will never play them. But I also have to say that I've already received some games for free which are / were on my steam wish list. Right now I have too many good ones overall (I don't mean the category I mentioned at the beginning) and I don't have the time to play them all. That's why I only buy freshly released games immediately if I absolutely want to have them and also want to play them. Otherwise I am waiting for offers and thanks to epic I got some of these games just for free (e.g. Watch Dogs 1 + 2, Shadowrun ... and maybe TW Troy could also be included)
