Hi everyone,

I own an RTX 2070 since March 19 without any problems. Recently I upgraded my main monitor (was 27" 1080p 60Hz) to a 34" Ultrawide 3440x1440 144Hz one... and ever since I have to either lower my in game graphics A LOT or stand the horrible noise of both fans which are revving to 100% as soon as the card reaches 75°C... Which happens quite quickly apparently.

Even when choosing a "quiet" fan curve in X1 and lowering the graphic settings to mid/low the card is still making that horrible dual fan noise (playing WoW, CoD Warzone, Cyberpunk, Apex Legends... even with Overwatch)

Today I removed all drivers with a tool called DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and reinstalled the latest one (461.09-desktop-win10-64bit-international-dch-whql) but it unfortunately stays the same.

Did I just shoot way over the 2070's capacity by choosing this monitor? Or is there maybe something wrong with my card? I can't imagine that a 500€ card from 03/19 can't handle this load, especially when I already lowered the heavy graphical settings...

Thanks everyone for your interest and/or help in getting this fixed!

Stay safe and game on!

PS: Here is also a link to a video where I am in the main menu of Apex Legends and the fans are already going crazy:

A 2070 would definitely have to reduce settings to even run that ultrawide anywhere near 75HZ in most newer games,. for sure.

FYI - 461.09 is kinda garbage for a lot of people.  460.89 is a bit better.

    Thanks Steve for your interest.

I also expect the card to be overloaded with Cyberpunk for example, but Apex Legends or World of Warcraft...? I mean it even happens in the main menu of Apex Legends...

...and if you're using both monitors plugged in - that is a known issue , of causing cards to run maxed out .

I have no first hand experience with it , but I have read many threads complaining about it.

I guess I'll give it a try, even if I don't really want to get rid of my 2nd one :(

Thanks! I'll keep you posted :)

Not really better, although it was more quiet in the menu, once I started a game of Apex it was revving to full speed again (disconnected the Display port of my 2nd screen and the USB-C that I'm only using for charging my phone)
