Today I’ve flashed BIOS on my X299 Dark to V 1.24 and I’ve experienced following issues: 1. It still does -NOT- contain fix for BIOS NVME info not showing more than 4 drives even though EVGA has had code for it for more than 5 months prior to the release of 1.24. 2. After boot Windows didn’t recognize my Sound BlasterX G6 anymore. Device Manager was showing device as “OK” but rest of Windows behaved as if it was not connected at all. I had to disconnect SoundBlaster, uninstall it from Device Manager, reconnect it, and reinstall it in order for it to be recognized and work. 3. After boot Windows redid setup of my CamLink 4K as if it was not already setup in the end leaving duplicate entries in Device Manager. I had to uninstall all entries for CamLink from Device Manager and repeat its install in order to put things back to way they were. In the end I went back to previous copy of BIOS. So consider yourself warned.

That is what I too was guessing happened, at least for CamLink, even though I don't see -WHY- something like that would/should happen. But for Sound Blaster behavior I don't have even a guess what might've caused it.

My advice would be for you to contact EVGA technical support so they are aware of these issues.

EVGA is already aware of the first issue. They've been aware of it for at least 6 months now. I do plan to contact them but based on my experience with how they handled other things I contacted them about (extremely slow replies or no reply at all) I don't expect much out of that. In the meantime other users deserve to be warned.

Hi Zoran, I'm checking on the first issue for you. The others appear to be odd issues. A new BIOS is going up shortly, but are not related to the issues you reported.

While others might be odd I have no doubt in my mind they have been triggered by update to 1.24 BIOS because: 1. This system had CamLink on it for approximately two months now and Sound Blaster G6 for approximately one. This system is also built to be "multi-boot" through swappable IcyDock on U.2 port. In last two months I've swapped boot drive many many times, both before upgrading them from Win10 1909 to 20H2 and after, and not a single time did I have issue with these devices being "reorganized" / not recognized. 2. Like I said, I have swappable boot drives. After flashing BIOS to 1.24 I have tried three of them. Same thing happened on all 3. If it was on just one I would've dismissed it as "yet another Windows oddity" but on all 3, that in my mind was not Windows anymore. So you might want to try to reproduce my setup and experience before dismissing my experience as "oddity". Let me know if you need details of how my USB devices are connected.

Public Service Advisory: FYI and FWIW same thing I experienced with CamLink 4K after flashing to 1.24 has repeated itself after I flashed to BIOS based on 1.25. So that is two times in a row now.

Status update: I tested this on different machine using following process: - Flash BIOS to one based on 1.23
- Do fresh install of Win10 20H2
- Install Cam Link 4K
- Flash BIOS to one based on 1.25
and that did not trigger reinstall of Cam Link. So whatever transpired on my first system with i9-10900X is not easily reproducible on my other system with i9-10920X, which in turn means it was either triggered by differences in layout of USB use between two or, more likely, something about Win10 on the first system (that one started life as Win10 1909 and was upgraded to 20H2), if not both together. In other words, it seems unlikely others will experience same but if you do please open a ticket with EVGA so they are aware and post here so community is aware too.
