I bought a SuperNOVA 850GA in anticipation for the 3080 release back in September. The PSU worked fine when installed in my old i7-6700k and EVGA 1060 6GB, no issues other than the fan has a ticking noise to it.
I've had my new system (i9-9900k, EVGA 3080 FTW3) for about a month and noticed that under extremely heavy loads (VR, Streaming while gaming, PSU stress test) it instantly shuts off and reboots. Tried CPU stress tests and running GPU at 100% at the same time without shutdowns, but as soon as I click start on OCCT PSU stress test the system instantly restarts.
After reading reviews it seems like a common issue with the 850GA when paired with a 30 series, has anyone else experienced this? I'm outside the return window so RMA is the only option but I'm hoping the next one doesn't have the same problem.

So even if I RMA it I'll still have issues you think? I'd like to avoid spending money at the moment if I can.

Time to buy a psu that is confirmed to work with 3000 series...
That list is worthless, at least I can confirm that my G3 750, which is on that list, can't handle a 3080 FE. Sure, it seems like it could, since it works most of the time, but then it randomly powers off in some games/situations. Not sure why someone under warranty should need to buy a different PSU anyway (considering the one they have is rated high enough). Although that's probably where I'll end up myself, since I can't seem to get any response at all from support.

Well I can confirm the seasonic 1300w platinum (ssr-1300pd) works with a 3090 kingpin. No issues thus far.

If you call them they will cross-ship a better PSU. 850 GA has issues with the 30 series that they are hopefully working on, but in the process of covering up. Look at Newegg reviews, you aren't alone. But yeah they cross-ship some more expensive psu at no cost.

Contacted support and they said there's no widespread issue with the PSU and to start an RMA. Will see how it goes once I get it replaced.

I can attest to the OP's problems. I bought a 850 GA for this build:
i9-10900k
Maximus Hero XII
32 GB GSkill 3600 MHz 16-16-16-36
EVGA 1080 Ti SC2
Samsung 970 Evo Plus
Noctua NH-D15
Worked beautifully, even when the 10900k was OC'd to an all-core 5.2 GHz and the GPU was stressed to the max. Yesterday, I installed a 3090 FE, booted up MS Flight Sim, and when a small load was placed on the GPU, the PSU clicked, the PC shut down and automatically restarted. Updated drivers to the latest 461.09 drivers, happened again. And again. Nothing fixed it. Went to the local MicroCenter - techs there said that Gold (and below) 850 W PSUs, including EVGA 850 W Gold PSUs, were having problems with the 3080/3090. So I bought the last EVGA 1600 T2 on the shelf. Almost died when I saw the price. Installed the behemoth PSU, runs smooth as butter, even maxing out the GPU at 4k or in VR at ~6k supersampling with the HP Reverb G2.
So yeah, it would seem the 850 GA can't handle the 3000 series cards.

In an interesting turn of events I received my replacement power supply, only to have something inside it pop loudly when I used the self tester.. Time to get an RMA on my RMA.

If only EVGA RMA were aware of this. I'm trying to RMA my EVGA 750 G3 (220-G3-0750-X3) because it intermittently powers off/restarts with my 3080 FE, and they are wanting to send me a EVGA 750 GA (220-GA-0750-X2) to replace it  . The 750w GA is cheaper on the US site than the 750w G3 is, so its a straight downgrade in every way. Its almost like they want to cause themselves more work..

Support replaced my 850GA with a 1000G+. (Even came in a retail box with all the cables and stuff.)
Although the first one they sent me went bang, they were quick to send me another one and it seems to have stopped the restarts under load. I was pretty impressed how quick they were to reply to my questions, all around good experience. I've never RMA'd something in the past but I'm glad I went with EVGA when I needed to.

I can only assume you are dealing with NA support then, since you said you contacted support 2 weeks ago and have had two replacements since then, one of which was an upgrade.
I contacted EU support 3.5 weeks ago and despite having paid for an advanced RMA have received nothing at all, and at the moment it looks like if they do ship one it will be an inferior, cheaper, and even less likely to work unit (they seemingly think sending me a 750 GA to replace a 750 G3 is a good idea...)
It is a bit of a shame, its hard to not read good things about EVGA support, but so few specify if its NA or EU they are talking about that people in the EU end up mistakenly believing its the same over here, and that is very far from reality.
Glad you got your problem solved in the end.
