So this is so weird.
My computer was giving me some issues booting yesterday like ntfs.sys page_fault_in_nonpaged_area.
This started just yesterday and all I was doing was testing my radiator fans pull and push then running benchmarks. I thought it may be nvme or RAM related so yesterday I reseat the RAM and it seems to be back to normal rebooting normally without the error.
This morning I wanted to make sure it was all good so I was running one 3Dmark test to see and suddenly the monitor went black and I thought it was going to reboot but suddenly I hard this POP and saw kind of a flash of light from where I think was the PSU rear part and the breaker in the room tripped.
Of course, now I am dying to find out what if anything else died and no idea what happened here. Was the PSU just failing to handle my gear? It is a 5950x and an Asus strix RTX 3080 with many HDDs.
So I want to test my system immediately and my only options locally is a local seller selling used PSUs...he has the eVGA 1600W G2 and the 1200W P2. It seems the P2 and G3 use the same cables although I may not want to reuse the cables after the experience or at least not the main cables but maybe just keep the sata cables from the G3 since it was a pain to wire all the HDDs and hide cables.
So confusing as to what happened here. :/

Sometimes stuff just fails.
But EVGA has great warranties, and your G3 likely still has one. I'd start with a RMA replacement unless you're chomping at the bit.
If it took anything else out, hopefully EVGA can help with that too.

Oh yes it has plenty of warranty left but I just need to get a replacement now cause an rma will take long for me to be without my main pc then i can sell one of them.
Just not sure which on is a better option between the 1600w g2 and 1200w p2

1200W P2 I've had for over 2 years, never had an issue with it through several GPU setups including Titan Xps in SLi at one point. Quality unit, highly recommend it for the beefier systems!

I would never run eco mode. I think the only good use case would be if ultra silent is needed. I just adjusts the fan curve as far as I know.

Power Supply Calculator - PSU Calculator | OuterVision I have a few EVGA 1200W P2 & they work well - using them 24/7 my rule of thumb ... 100% expected load does not exceed 80-85% of PSU rated load keep the PSU cool & clean - just like any electronic device - for best life

I am sure other people aren't having issues. I just like keeping my components as cool as possible even if it costs a few dollars a year. Peace of mind if you will. Heat is the #1 killer of components after all. As for fan curves and what eco mode does, I meant to say " It just adjusts the fan curve as far as I know". You cannot adjust the curve (other than the eco switch). Some of their older power supplies I heard had a software controlled feature. I would rather let the hardware take over in the case of a power supply though.

Thanks for the link... never saw that before but it recommended a 750W (so did PCPP) and I went 1000W with my new build this week because it was like a $40 difference between the two and for that price I'm going for the bigger PSU. I read the 10900k and 3090 both love the power so it was an easy choice... took me like 1.4 seconds.

Both the G2 1600 and P2 1200 are great. The P2 is a bit more efficient, the G2 1600 tests better and is possibly the top performing PSU on the market.

Sorry for digging this post up but did the ntfs.sys page_fault_in_nonpaged_area bsod disappear after the PSU replacement? I have them quite often when booting and tried a fresh windows install but no dice. Initially I thought it was on of my hdds acting up but a couple days after removing it from the PC the bsods started occuring again. So I'm suspecting my 750W xfx psu as the source of the problem, especially since I think it might be underpowered for my 6800XT+5900X with a bunch of storage and a lot of fans.

That error points to a memory issue. It could be power supply related but it points directly to memory. You should run a memtest.

Yeah for me those started showing up just hours before the PSU exploded on me and have not seen them with my new PSU (unless I got too low on voltage for my 5950x when booting up) so at least for me, it was PSU related.
