Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Thanks for sharing the pics.  I'm using the same case, and the case is one of the reason's why I'm on the fence in purchasing the 3080/3090 FTW3 Hybrid Kit.   I did think of the same configuration as you, because mounting the rad on the bottom is not an option... unless I went a custom loop with a res and D5 pumps... I prefer a pull configuration rather than push on a radiator for maintenance reasons, but I don't mind push to flex the RGB in front of the case... lol.

How is this set up working out for you so far?  Is the pump still performing the same from when you 1st installed it, or does it sound different? and how do you get to the magnetized dust filter in the front of the case for maintenance?

It's working great, I mainly installed it as a push because it was so much easier to install but it's all about preference, with the mesh its easy to clean so not worried about it, and I took the glass off the front to ensure better temps.

I have the filter on the outside part of the grate that the AIO is installed on, and there is enough wiggle room to open it, but with the glass off its easy for me to clean off without having to take it out.

Sound is fine, it was loud for the first few minutes until the air bubbled up to the top, virtually silent now.

Thank you for your input.   All my previous builds were all custom watercooled loops... but thought I would just use an AIO and RGB fans this time... but I'm not used to seeing my gpu temps at 45 to 50+ at idle.    The Hybrid kit looks to be the cheaper route in lowering my gpu temps... so I just ordered the kit.  If I didn't see your thread and pics... I would still be on the fence... lol

Just wanted to say thanks again for convincing me to purchase the Hybrid kit...   Installing the Hybrid kit on the card, and mounting the rad on the front of the corsair 680x case fit perfect.   I think the hardest part was figuring out how to remove front tempered glass from the mounted frame.   I have just enough room to slide in and remove the dust cover fine... even with the radiator/fan installed.  And with the glass off.. it's easy to remove the rad if I have to clean it.  I think the case looks better without the glass now... haha.    My 3090 ftw3 never went below 40c...  now it idles in the mid 20's... and playing CP2077... it appears to stay in the 50's... but I didn't play for very long, but I'm happy with the results so far.   Anyhow... here is the pic of my install...

Lookin sexy! I bought the case because I like the dual compartment on this Corsair ones and the lower height so I don’t feel boxed in, even after watching Steve’s review from GN. Before I ever put anything in it the first thing I did was remove the front glass. They should have done it like the top, which is awesome and easy to remove.

I have the ML fans so I wasn’t worried about RGB reflection from the glass, I like it muted, but wanted white. Unfortunately Asus’s RGB is off with a bluish hue so I went for teal, which worked well when aligning all the other colors. Your color is pretty similar, must be a brother (or sister?) from another mother!

Installed the hybrid kit on my 3090. Got temps down from 70 C to 55 C. However, memory junction temp jumped from 98 C to 110 C. Not great for mining. Will install the stock HSF back tomorrow. Great if you are using card for gaming only but not worth it if you want to mine. Stock HSF is full of fins/copper that keeps memory temps down.

I am sure you did but make sure you set a fan curve for the vram fan. My temp for the memory junction never gets to 70, but like you said mostly stress testing not mining.

Has anyone tried shipping a 3080/3090 card with the hybrid kit installed? Trying to work out if I could use the hybrid kit packaging or if I would have to uninstall the kit and use the card's original packaging.

If it helps any I sent my old 1080 ti hybrids out using the boxes I saved for those hybrid kits, I did have to exacto cut up the foam a bit to make sure it fit 100% but worked great, both buyers highly satisfied and no packaging or shipping issues.

Re: 3080 FTW Hybrid Kit Install 2021/03/12 18:57:30 (permalink)
I just installed my hybrid kit last night and I think something is wrong with the pump.  It makes a loud and very annoying whining sound (its not air bubbles, i made sure to work any out) and in firestrike/timespy stress test its getting all the way up to 68-69c  (60% fan).  It did the bios update when I installed the card and the fan control is definitely working.

The tubes and rad are *very* hot, which makes me think the pump isn't moving the liquid well at all.

I've watercooled two videocards before this one and none were like this - they were silent and extremely cool (~50c range)

Hello,
any way to get proper vBIOS for 3090OC@evga.com program card?

links in this forum does not work (https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-GeForce-30-Series-HYBRIDXOCDefault-BIOS-Thread-m3407542.aspx)

After hybrid installed on FTW3 3090, Junction temp goes up to 112°C

One Thermal pad have been damaged, so i think it's not good.

Can we replace them by another band like Thermaltake on front and back ?

Hey guys! I just installed the hybrid kit on my 3080 FTW Ultra with no issues and flashed the BIOS in the stickied thread. The power limit is now 105% as opposed to 118% before swapping to the Hybrid. Is this normal? I was assuming having better cooling that a higher power limit would be beneficial. Or is it already a higher power BIOS? Any help is appreciated!

I flashed the the normal hybrid, then oc hybrid, then xoc hybrid bios onto mine, but I'm using corsair ML120's on my hybrid rad and controlling them with iCUE.  It shows 0 RPM for FAN1 for me in PX1.  If there is an issue with the hybrid xoc hybrid bios and fans running on high, I haven't noticed it because I'm using iCUE.

I'm thinking of having this exact same setup - where would I connect the ML120 fans to? To the motherboard/fan controller? I guess if I connect to the GPU I cannot control via iCUE? Thanks in advance, I'm a noob with fans.

I have two 3090 ftw3 running precision v1.2.6 and the precision software updated my cards, but the RGB is still messed and I've never run the Normal.exe or OC.exe for the 3090 after installing the hybrid kit. My 3090s are setup in NVlink config.

Question - do I have to physically remove one card and update the one remaining in the system and then remove that card and put the other card uniquely in the system and update that one or can i update both cards as-is both installed and with the nvlink bridge?

"Here is the BIOS updates to turn the card into a HYBRID. Each .zip includes 2 files. One for Normal BIOS and one for OC BIOS. Only install this update if the HYBRID kit is installed."

i downloaded the "3080 ftw3" folder no less than 3 times to make sure i was working with the right vbios images.

no matter what i do i cant get these ftw3 vbios files to flash.
it just says there are "no display adapters detected compatible with this update." which means this is not a vbios for a  "ftw3 ultra" card.

are the ftw3 gaming and the ftw3 ultra bios identical? my ultra card has a higher set of specs, so SHOULD it run on the same vbios?

i think ONLY the ultra binned chips come in a bona fide hybrid unit, so perhaps there is something missing here. because myself and at least one other person i spoke to cant make this  "common sense" process work, in spite of any command prompt or power shell entry.
