I just got my new card today. Before I start, I have a EVGA 850 G2 Gold PS. I ran an extra PCIe cable and installed the card and everything was fine. Played for a few minutes to test things out. I download the Precision software and I noticed nothing was being detected for fans and the fan on the card was super loud. I tried the OC profile on the card and then trouble struck, my display when black after launching a game. I tried disconnecting it and connecting it back and nothing. Had to cold turkey the system, then the entire system would not boot back up. I tried swapping the cables for other ones and still the same issue.

I connected back my EVGA GTX 1080 TI FTW3 and system boots back normal. I tried the 3 connectors in all possible combinations with my card and they call worked. As soon as I install the 3090 the system stops booting. My PS is less than 2 years old so I doubt it'll be bad if not my system would not boot with my previous card. I'm  tech savvy and I'm stunned at this one. I really don't want to buy another PS and get the same results since I'm already down 2k on this card. I sent in an email for return but wanted to post something on here to see if other people have had similar problems. Thanks,

Yeah I installed the precision x1. Everything was working fine and it just stopped. Super weird and the system stopped posting. I have the old card in and everything is working fine. I may have gotten a dud.

Are you getting post codes? I’m having trouble with my system too, it posts, but sometimes has trouble and throws a variety of codes. Never once had trouble with my 2080 Ti’s.

My system does not post at all. It acts like there is no power going to it when I plug up the 3090, the mobo lights up and all my peripherals but it doesn't post when i press the power button. Everything works perfect with my 1080 TI. Going to try the card now in a different system to cover all my bases but i think i have a bad card.

Tried swapping the switch back to normal?
    Try another pcie slot?
Have another system available to test it in?
Tried clearing cmos for longer than 30 seconds?
Tried a different output (DP vs hdmi)?
Is your bios set to Display from the pcie slot first?
    Disable fast boot in bios?

Just some things off the top of my head...

I tried swapping the switch back to normal, tried different sets of cables, tried different vga slots on the power supply, I have a mini ITX so only one pcie slot.

My 1080 TI works perfect when I connected it back in. No issues at all. I tried most of what you suggested. The only thing is to try with a different power supply.

look at your GPU, does it have a single Red LED on top of the power connectors?

It has no leds. I if I connect two of the 3 I see the red led. I think one of the power connectors went bad. The first one from the left. I tried connecting them in all combinations and if I connect 2 the systems powers up if I connect the third one no power but computer is still getting power. If the PS was bad it would boot at all with my old card. And i had the 3090 on when I first installed it and tested it out which I’m thinking something went bad.

If the cables worked on the other gpu its likely a bad card.

Sorry  :-(.  I have heard that EVGA support is pretty good though so you will get a new card.

So if you connect ALL PCIe connectors you get 1 Red LED on the GPU. If so @ https://forums.evga.com/E...onnector-m3160432.aspx

If i connect all PCIe connectors i get nothing. Nothing happens. If i connect 2 i get the red light. It seems the first one is the one with issues. The card turned on fine when i initially installed it.

I have the exact same issue. Got a black screen and fan went crazy when playing a game, and system won’t post.

Open the case, one red LED is lit up at the left power slot. I tried it on my roommate who happens to have the same card. Swapped mine in, same thing.

I have returned it to Newegg and waiting for a new one.

Ok guys. Got a new power supply and hooked everything up and the same issue. No LEDs on the card and system does not boot. It’s definitely a bad card. The only thing I did to recap was installed the card, download precision x1, it did a firmware upgrade, switch the bios to OC, tested a few games, card ram all fans at 100% no video output, turned off PC, didn’t post after that. Hooked up old video card with original and new PSU no issues. This totally sucks for a card that’s 2K.

In fairness, Nvidia is responsible for $1500 of that. The rest is what makes you glad you chose EVGA design and QC.

I would have thought there would be better QC specially for a 2k card you would think. I have a lot of EVGA products and my GTX 1080 TI FTW3 has been running like a champ since day one. It’s my luck but whatever. I requested a refund and it’s going back. Just going to wait and this was a wake up call.

All components of PC can cause bottlenecks most slow the system down but power is the most trouble The 3090 that need 3 direct 8 pin connections to the PS as can pull over 650 watts in spike demands with all card do but not  which is my new system once i get a 3090 kingpin is a evga is 1000w titanium  t2
as i also run several drives and blue ray burner. so it sounds like a bad  card or a power issue

I have a pair of the same GPUs, and I went Strix, for the first time, this year due to this (perceived, how about a statement?!) mess.

IIRC, the 1080 series was botched by inadequate cooling of elements aside from the core, to which the fans were not equipped to respond. That folly sponsored the thermal pad ICX sensors everywhere design that worked so well for the 10 TI series. Looks like complacency has set in again, and we should see a straight up banger of a card next time. I will fasho not be there on launch day though. Mindshare stocks at a five year low for me.

Why request a refund when you can just get a replacement.  If it happens again yeah get a refund.  Mine died a week ago and still waiting for my replacement.  If this one dies again you bet I'm refunding lol

Well I am only on day 3 of gaming with my 3090 FTW3, so far no issues.  Fans work on auto with no issues, I have played games, used up to 3 screens..did a remote work day on it.. different resolutions.  No problems yet.

However I did buy 2 more years on the warranty, so its warrantied now for 5 years.  Was $30 more, worth it.  At this point seeing all these posts its not if its when and I have a spare 2080 Super FTW3 (which is on step up to a 3080 FTW3 sometime in April - May).  I plan to build a second rig at some point... so this card will be in use for 4 years at least.  At least during its use I have a way to get it fixed or replaced when it goes.

Before anyone thinks that an ASUS card is going to fair better keep in mind there are far fewer ASUS cards out there.  In addition, I have first hand experience of issues with ASUS equipment.  The ASUS CH viii Formula x570 MB in my rig was installed in May-June and the initial one had issues with USB Hub, wi-fi interface.  It needed to be shipped back to the seller, refunded, and a new one sent out from a different seller.  Any brand will have issues and we are seeing these issues on the EVGA 3080s and 90s FTW3s since they have so much more market exposure, many more have been sold.
