Actually, disregard my previous enthusiastic post. I forgot that the 3070 launch actually got pushed back to 10/29. The fact then that I've been this close in the email queue for almost a full month now is just utterly shameful. The supply chain for this stuff is an absolute joke.

Me and a few other guys are feeling your pain. There's basically been no 3070s going out for almost a month and pretty much not much of anything going out the last week or so
 
I had a lot of optimism for the EVGA queue system but I am quickly losing all of my faith in it and becoming really disappointed with EVGA/Nvidia

And does anyone know how EVGA allocates their stock? Does it go to people in the queues first or does a portion of them get distributed to retailers first? If it's the latter then that's BS and people will be sitting in these queues forever and would be better off continuing to look elsewhere.

It presumably gets split between the queues, retailers and fulfilling RMA claims.  No one here could tell you the actual percentages.  Pragmatically, I'd assume EVGA would rather use them all fulfilling queue orders at retail than selling them to retailers at wholesale but they have obligations with those places.
 
You're best off continuing to look online at the usual sources and using the queue as your backup plan (and knowing it'll happen "eventually") than just sitting back and waiting on your queue position if you're anxious to get your new card quickly.

Well, it is what it is but I still maintain that Nvidia was not properly prepared for this launch. It's quite obvious this is more than a demand issue and more of a supply chain problem. Quite honestly they should have delayed the launch to 2021 but were too eager to cash in on holiday fever. The idea there's all these rumors of new SKUs being introduced before end of year is just asinine given the current problems.

What would delaying them really do though? There are still a lot of people that already have the cards, and more are being sold weekly. Are you saying that because all of us can't get the cards, nobody should be able to?

Walmart has a 3090 FTW at msrp again.  I saw others here posting that they got theirs.  The card I bought Thu still hasn't arrived, nor do I have a tracking number for it yet.

the problem is that the botters who used to buy shoes to resell have pivoted into the PC components market.  Look at the new AMD processors, Look at the 6800 and 6800xt, look at all flavors of the 3k series nvidia cards... all completely unavailable, unless you look at ebay where they are for sale for sometimes over double their retail price.  The problem here is that there were no safeguards put in place to stop this behavior.  That is on the retailers.

Well, Ebay and other auction sites could help put a damper on this behavior if they would ban the re-sell of new products by at least a couple of weeks from their launch. But that will never happen because all the auction sites would have to agree to it and there's too much money to be made by letting such items sell. You could make the argument as well that it's a people problem and if people didn't pay such ridiculous prices for things then they wouldn't be scalped. However, if you're a millionaire and little Jimmy wants a 3080 for Christmas then a 200% markup may be a drop in the bucket.

Thanks, I just did something I absolutely didn't think I would ever do, I bought this. I didn't want to spend so much money but I'd rather do this then drop $1300 on a 3080 FTW3 Ultra on Paypal

Um, basic economics. Artificial scarcity creates demand which then makes the environment highly coducive to predatory re-selling. If there's more balance between supply and demand then it's not nearly as bad of a problem. I'm not saying it wouldn't exist but trust me, if there were enough product to go around then resellers wouldn't have nearly the same incentive to be ****s.

I agree with you...I place the blame at the feet of NVIDIA (does NVIDIA have feet or flippers or a tail...?).  EVGA has, in my opinion, tried to improve our tremendously suboptimal circumstance with the creation of the queue.  It is not perfect and most of the suboptimal issues were only partially mitigated.  But they tried -- and continue to try.  And, for that, I thank them.
 
For us, the best I think we can do is try to keep our collective spirits up and to support each other with answers to questions (even if they have been asked 364 times in the 364 pages of this thread).  I think we've all been frustrated by these conditions...I know I have and the long termers here have been witness to those moments...but I continue to believe we are better with the queue than without it; better with the community built up around this thread than without it.  And as much as I desperately need my card so I can complete my build, it will be a somewhat bittersweet day for me...this thread and our discourse have really made the wait for my gaming goodness a lot easier and seemingly faster than without it.  And for everybody's contributions to this thread, I sincerely thank you.  
 
Now, EVGA's business day starts in about 20 minutes.  Get your game faces on.  And Let's go get our cards!!!

I (kind of) feel your pain.  I secured a PS5 order from Kohl's after midnight Sunday morning.  This morning it was cancelled.  We cannot catch a break.

Wow, that doesn't seem right at all. They should have you first in line on a wait list. I think it's funny/sad that in 2020 that Retailers still don't have a better way to handle high volume online ordering.

I think NVIDIA is at fault but mostly because they priced it too low. This really is good for all of us, but if they priced the 3080 at a $999+ price point there would be a lot less people in line to drop their 20 series for this. The typical logic among my friends is to skip a generation but they all rethought it with this price point. Of course then a lot of people would complain about the price point. the price point also suggests they knew what AMD's plan was - what their product could do and their price points.
 
In the end selling out is good for NVIDIA. The increased competition from AMD is good (and is the likely culprit of the lower pricing). When we get our cards (whenever that is) we'll be happy.
 
Meanwhile I finished my build over the weekend and because of timing and pricing I'm using integrated graphics for the time being. Lets hope that they can get some cards out this week, the FTW Ultra seems to be on the cusp of tracking by days instead of hours (and I'm a week after launch).

I'm sorry but saying that they should've made it a more premium product just so less people buy it seems like a really scummy thing to ask for. You're basically saying that you deserve to have the new product more because you're willing to spend more. However in that case you should just go ahead and buy from the ebay scalpers since you think a higher price point would be a solution.
