About 6-7 hours after they got my card, they created a tracking label and shipped the 3080 the same day. They had someone else's card for a few days before finally creating a label for theirs on the same day as mine. I think they may only ship once or twice a week.

Buying a previous gen GPU, after the 3000 launch, purely to get into the queue just seems like a bad idea.
No, it is actually a very good idea if you need a GPU right now. a 2070 and 2080 is still a very powerful GPU for people who wants to play the latest game at a High Setting. If the 3080.
Everyone wants to think AMD will be their Savior, wrong, AMD 6000 series GPU will experience the exact same shortage.
Im still of the view that rather than buying a card and jumping in the queue, just sign up for the email notifications to buy a 3000 series card. People have been getting through that faster than the step up, so it would be more beneficial to sit in that queue than the step up. And you're right about AMD. They may end up having more cards than NVIDIA to start with, but in the end they will fall into the same problem because of this pandemic.
That would make sense if you already have a graphics card and not running Intel integrated.

Yes, that is an exception. My comment on there was for the people who were specifically upgrading a gpu only for stepup, no other reason, which is what a lot of people seem to be doing. With how slow the queue is going right now, the stock queue would probably be faster. Obviously, im not trying to say not to buy a 20 series card. They are great cards and will easily get you through practically anything while you wait in the step up queue. I just know the wait is long and it seems that the stock queue is going faster than the stepup queue.

Nope and it's strange.. and concerning.. we have been this patient thus far.. but seeing as previous rollouts have received step 3 within the same day as Step 2, or at the latest 24 hours after step 2, it's now been 4 days and nobody seems to have gotten to step 3..

I sent a tweet to @evga_JacobF to see if I he has any info. No response yet.
Just called customer support, gave my Step Up ID, got put on hold while he asked a manager, and they confirmed Step 2, but said they have to wait for a manager's approval per Step-Up request ID to send it to Step 3.. guess managers just weren't approving anything Thursday, Friday, or Today thus far (Assuming they are not working on weekends). They said it could be today, tomorrow, etc.. the anxiety is killing me lol

Yeah just got off the phone. They told me the same thing. He said it can take up to 14 days. Also said that if for some reason the our step-up pages show expired to call them back and they will reopen it and approve right away. I am thinking they likely had a large drop and with the upcoming holiday they might be undermanned which is slowing things down.

I did this not to speed up getting a 3080, but because my GTX 970 was unable to keep up with my new 1440P 144hz monitor. 2070 Super pushes enough frames and I'll happily wait until April/May for my 3080.

I went with UPS only because I had some returns to send to Amazon and they provided UPS labels. Plus UPS has 25% off ground shipping and 45% off 1/2/3 day shipping with the promo code Holidays. Was only $20 to send back my 2070S and it will get there on Friday.

I'm shipping from Canada and worried about how long it'll be held up in customs. Costed me an arm and a leg to have it arrive there before the end of this week, but I think I'll still pull ahead (compared to buying it off Kijiji).
