  • Does the controller show up in device manager fine? What color is the light on the controller when your computer is powered on?
  • Did you connect the two cables from the waterblock to the controller? As well as as the additional pci-e 8 pin connection to the controller and usb header?
  • If yes to all of these then I would assume a software problem. Maybe try uninstalling the cryo software and reinstalling? I know there's been at least one update to it as well.. came out in Jan I think.

Ok I added this thing to my loop and boy does the waterloop as a whole get warm big time even my GPU temp went up 10 degrees trying to keep cool lol

Is Standby mode is like Reg Cpu block cooler mode?

My direct die performs much better with 40-100% cpu loads. The concept is cool but it cant maintain temps with any high cpu load and it adds so much heat to the loop. Maybe in a few years once the tech is refined performance will be there.

What kind of radiator(s)/fans are you using?  CPU on the loop by itself?

Yea it does heat up the loop pretty good i have 3 EK Radiators and that huge front distribution plate reservoir on Lian-li Case with Lian-li uni fans and GPU also on the loop

The cpu is on its own 480mm hardwarelabs GTR radiator. Im running 8 noctua NF-A12x25 in push pull config. Running realbench bench @5.4ghz/5.1cache and 4700 cl17 17 17 36 temps stay in 60s. 5.5ghz takes alot more voltage, the hottest temp on a cinebench r20 run was 74c @ 5.5ghz.

Looks like I'll be in a similar boat.  My CPU loop is on a 480 GTX.  What clocks were you able to get with direct die setup?  Also nice numbers on the memory OC, what sticks are you using?

Ive tested alot of different bdies but have had the best results with my gskill trident z neo 3600 c14 kit. I'm running a evga beta bios that allows me to disable ppd so I got my latency down to 34.1ns for daily. If i push my cache to 5.2 I can get latency to 33.9ns with my 4700c17. I post my results on overclock.net intel ddr4 overclocking thread.

My chip ran hot as hell before going direct die. I could only run realbench 2.56 @ 5.2ghz max before becoming temp limited. With direct die cooling 5.4ghz is no problem. I can game @ 5.5ghz but there's hardly a increase in performance from 5.4ghz and requires over 100mv more volts. Ive tested alot 10900ks , and 5.4/5.5 is basically the limit with direct die. If you have a very very Golden cpu you might be able to do some benchmarks @ 5.6ghz if temps are below 70c.

Yeah the Delta TEC is not meant for continuous all core workloads... it's much more meant for gaming-like workloads (i.e. high-frequency few cores). Intel and EK are both pretty open about this solution paling in comparison to other solutions when it comes to all-core workloads as it's not currently designed for that. However for gaming, it's fantastic IMO. In my build, I was comparing the EK Magnitude vs the Delta TEC and for gaming, the Delta TEC wins hands down; kept my CPU below 30c and you can hit 5.6-5.7 in that kind of workload.

How does it keep up in games on a high refresh rate monitor with semi/high cpu usage such as,
Shadow of the tomb raider
Read dead redemption 2
Cyberpunk 2077
Total war warhammer 2
Multiplayer games/mmos

This gen games will be much more cpu intensive, compared to last gen games that were developed for the potato ps4/xbox1 cpu.
If phase changers didnt have such condensation issues in summer I might give it a go, they just aren't typical for 24x7 use.

Gaming workloads are nowhere near the workloads which tax all-cores 100%. Games typically scale more vertically whereas things like rendering scale more horizontally. So any gaming is a perfect use case for this tech and exactly what it was made for basically. That said, it is absolutely a "gen 1".

Are you using thermal velocity boost where you have,
Example
2 cores @ 5.6
4 core @ 5.4
8 core @ 5.3
10 cores @ 5.2

Or can you run a locked 5.6ghz on 10 cores in a fairly cpu intensive game @ high refresh rate. Cpu isn't pushed until going for that high refresh rate.

If not, whats the max ghz you can reach on all cores in a cpu demanding game.

Is anyone able to download the new 1.0.2 software patch and install it?

Future is here. EK's website has never been updated to support the cryo cooler for evga's z490 platforms, and evga never uploaded a bios with the new microcode. What this means is that "Overclocking Thermal Velocity Boost" is not supported/will not work with an evga z490 board and this cooler. What ****ing rubbish.

EK's compatibility list: https:/ /www.ekwb.com/configurator/waterblock/3831109827086
be sure to fix the link^^

What this means, yeah you can still use the cryo cooler - for an all core overclock, which is entirely pointless. EK's site specifically says it's NOT for an all-core oc. The OC TVB is the entire POINT of having this cooler. With this critical feature missing, it makes my cryo cooler not worth the hassle of installation.

Lessons learned:
1) read compatibility specs, even when intel is like "Everyone will support this"
2) don't expect evga to support a $600 motherboard.
3) Will never buy an evga motherboard again
4) Asus & Gigabyte support this feature, and should've kept the Apex I had in hand instead of returning it and pay $200 more for less features.
