Hi Everyone,

Apologies, but didn't seem to find a definitive answer to this in the search.

I have an EVGA 1200P2 which has 2x of the PCIe cables with the "6-Pin + 8(6+2) - Pin" connectors.

I'm running a mining rig where there are Sapphire RX580 Nitro's that require an 8-pin *and* a 6-pin power connector.

For this GPU, can I use a single cable that has the "6-Pin + 8(6+2) - Pin" connectors? Or should this GPU have two separate PCIe cables and not just the one?

Needing to do this because I don't have enough PCIe cables, otherwise, if I use two separate PCIe cables for this GPU.

Want to check so I don't damage either unit by running power to the GPU with a single "6-Pin + 8(6+2) - Pin" cable.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the support

You should be fine to run them that way. If the connector has a 8 pin and a 6+2 pin on a single cable the cable will be rated to deliver that much current. Not that a RX580 will ever draw anywhere near that much anyway but regardless you'll be fine on that PSU.

An 8-pin PCIe supplemental power connector is rated for 150 watts..A 6-pin at 75 watts..The mobo PCIe x16 slot at 75 watts..300 watts total..That card is rated at 235 watts..The PCIe cable is rated for the load as far as that goes..But, see the recommendation in Seasonic's Installation remark for high power consumption graphics cards.
