Very interesting, I'm actually disappointed at the prices of a card that can't actually do ray tracing. Even if it's enabled through drivers, they should be able to produce port royal numbers but I'm not seeing that. It does look like they are going to pull in a lot of new customers just because their product will actually be available, so that will be great for the users that are using AMD. However, numbers and charts between NVIDIA and AMD have been deceptive. The RX 5700XT cards I ran all had about the same performance as my RTX 2080 in many games if you only look at FPS numbers. However, the overall experience was way worse and the lag effect I experienced on AMD was hard to explain because the frame rates were higher but weird things like rubber-banding effects would happen in first person shooters. I spent far too much time reimaging my hard drives to get a clean install of windows so I could troubleshoot the issues, things that you would think are related to other hardware were becoming problems only when I installed an AMD card... I'll be skipping them this go around, I just hope this series gets enough people for them to iron out a lot of those problems.

Oh yeah, NGreedia totally changed things with RT performance with the 30 series! RTX 3080 is a whopping 10% faster than overclocked 2080 Ti (11.5k vs 10.3k Port Royal). And look at that 3080 absolutely scream in newer games, look at this performance!

Dude RT is ready for prime time! Meanwhile HDR costs next-to-nothing and absolutely annihilates ray tracing.

So glad I'm out of NGreedia's crummy ecosystem with price-gouging nonsense. $1500 for the 80 Ti card on garbage tier node (Samsung 8nm EUV is actually 10nm) , no thanks. And yes, it's the 80 Ti card, not the Titan card.

On Port Royal the RTX 2080Ti gets more like 9.5K at stock and caps out at 13K on the leaderboards, where the RTX 3080 is 11.5K stock and caps out around 14K when overclocked heavily. The gap is much bigger stock vs stock, more like 20%.

RT won't be viable for competitive gameplay until next generation. It's way better on the RTX 30 series, but still not enough to maintain 144FPS+ on 1440p even with a RTX 3090.

yeah , Ray tracing is still a non-issue for anything but Single player ..it's way too resource intensive to be effectively used in Multiplayer / online / competitive. areas.

We need to see tests without SAM to judge which one is better 6900 or 3090. I dont like amd cpus so I dont like any brand forcing me to buy all of their stuff to get better performance.

They aren't forcing you to. It's an option if that's what you want, they can't just flip a switch to make it work with other GPUs because it's powered by the latest AMD mobo chipset. However, I think not liking a brands CPU is a little ignorant. Current benchmarks are showing AMDs newest CPUs dominating Intel's best offering and beating it in price as well.

If you were to buy an RX 6900XT then you would be foolish not to also get the AMD R9 5900x as you're getting an increase performance from SAM and you're getting increased performance from the CPU. Give that's if your budget warrants it.

If you were to buy an RX 6900XT and an Intel chip just to stick to AMD then that's ridiculous. It's also ridiculous if the RX 6900XT is within 10% performance without SAM and is still $500 cheaper yet you decide to buy an RTX 3090 and a Intel chip just to stick to AMD.

Brand loyalty needs to be removed from PC culture. We only lose for having it. Purchase what has better price/perf and what fits in your budget.
