New Updates for all Z490 Motherboards today.  Basically, a security fix for the Intel ME:

BIOS 1.08 (E499 DARK/DARK KPE) / BIOS 1.09 (E497 FTW)

  • Update ME FW 14.0.45.1389 for Intel security vulnerability

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         131-CL-E499-KP - EVGA Z490 DARK KPE - v1.08
         131-CL-E499-KR - EVGA Z490 DARK - v1.08
         122-CL-E497-KR - EVGA Z490 FTW - v1.09
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update.  Thanks!

These BIOS instructions as it relates to doing so within the BIOS need updating, there's no such item on the "Save & Exit tab",  rather BIOS flash is found under "Extras". IMHO, there really is NO excuse why CSM isn't enabled by default. The method of using HDMI from the vid card as was explained in this post no longer works with BIOS 1.08 at least for me. I was fine using the shipping BIOS 1.04 with using HDMI but after updating to 1.08 I had to move my 1080 Ti down to the 2nd PCI-E slot, change CSM, then move back to 1st slot and could use DP once again. I'm still experiencing freeze ups when installing certain drivers line the LAN or Corsair iCUE, or previously Nvidia drivers were freezing system as well but I was installing with custom method but this time I ran as admin and chose express and they (457.51) finally installed.

Update: I solved my freezes with this fix.
