New Updates for Z390 Motherboards today. Basically, it's a security update that updates the ME Firmware: BIOS 1.08 (E399 Dark) / 1.09 (E397 FTW)- Update ME FW 12.0.70.1652 for Intel security vulnerability
Windows Installation - Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
131-CS-E399-KR - EVGA Z390 Dark - v1.08 123-CS-E397-KR - EVGA Z390 FTW - v1.09- First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
- From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
- Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update. Thanks!

Flashed 1.08 to my Z390 Dark. I noticed that when resetting the BIOS via the flash reset button (located on the I/O panel at the rear), my system goes through what seems like several more "false starts" than it used to, before POSTing (powers on, powers off quickly, powers back on for a sec, powers back off, etc etc). Also, I'm pretty sure that my previous overclocks prevent the board from POSTing. It hangs on code 78, which I believe is ACPI initialization. I narrowed it down to the VCORE voltage. I was previously able to use Adaptive, 1.25v as the target with -200. Without spending a lot of time right now troubleshooting it further, this seems to be what causes the hang. Without making any other changes except that, it stops at 78. I'm curious what other changes snuck in? I will test this out later by switching to another BIOS and loading 1.07 using the settings above to determine if I'm mistaken. Lastly, the ME firmware can be updated via software without a BIOS update. I would have expected to see an IME update available in the downloads, too. I just happen to check today for another driver, and noticed the BIOS update with a 10/29/2020 date. Thanks for the update, though. For a few seconds, I was excited to come see what the update notes were. And then... oof. ;) Michael

Thanks you just saved me a hassle. Lucky the system has multiple bios or your system would be down.

+1 How about more memory compatibility and better memory overclocking?

Would have been nice if they threw in a Resizable Base Address Register like ASUS did with their Z490.
