Ex-Blizzard devs team up to create ‘the next great RTS’ game

Frost Giant Studios has been announced this week with the aim of building “the next great PC real-time strategy game”.
 
Speaking with VentureBeat this week, Frost Giant CEO, Tim Morten, explained that he “knew that it was time” to leave Blizzard, as he was “in parallel exploring if it was possible to raise funding for a new RTS”. Activision has been pushing Blizzard to create and release games more frequently in order to boost profits over the last two years and many believe that a new RTS simply wouldn’t get the greenlight there anymore. Specifics around Frost Giants’ new RTS have not been shared yet but the team is full of veterans that have worked on great games in the past, including StarCraft 2, Command and Conquer, Wasteland 3, Warcraft 3, Diablo and more.
 
This should be interesting as the new studio won't have Activision looking over their backs.

    yeah, I think RTS will be a hard sell for outside investor $$ backing  now-a-days

    this is interesting because ex blizzard co founder also opened a dev company called dreamheaven with a ton of ex blizzard employees and they are working on 2 rts game to compete with warcraft and starcraft

    I'm afraid Blizzard died a long time ago...but someone else will come and take their place, same with Bethesda etc.

    I am a massive fan of Starcraft I and II and Warcraft I to III.  And the Diablos to some degree.  Everything else Blizzard has done is smelly manure to me.
     
    Would love to see another team pick up the RTS legacy they seem to have abandoned. They wouldn't exist today if not for those classics.
