Building my wife a new gaming computer (yes, I won the wifey lottery) but I'm only a semi good husband and want to give her my current ram and upgrade some of my components.

Just curious if anyone knows or if Jacob can chime in, if the Crucial Ballistix MAX 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-5100 work on x299 Dark.

Currently running a 10920x.

Before some asks why, the answer is because I wanna. Lol

Chances of running RAM @ 5100MHZ on X299 are very slim, you'll most likely have to dial the RAM clock back.

Why?  Serious question.  Something around 3k - 3.2k will cost a fraction of something rated at 5k and will just work out of the box.  Would you rather have stability or take on a part-time job of trying to make 5k memory show you a noticeable difference in performance?  Look into latencies versus speed and sigh.
If you only run 2 Dimms on a x299 ... dude ... no.

I've heard that you'd be really lucky to get 4800Mhz working on any 10 series chip (that includes the 10900K).

    Fair enough.

    BLUF: Really was just curious.

My CPU seems to be in the higher end of the silicon lottery. 5.2 stable at 1.34 using nothing but a 280 AIO. Just curious how far I can push things.

That being said, I have a chiller being built by Drewmeister from EOC. Previously ran a two stage cascade phase change as my daily, but decided to ease up on needing a dedicated outlet to turn it on, lol. Plus insulation is a PIA for a daily at those temps. Thing would pull a full 15amps at start up for just the cascade and drop down to -95c plus or minus.

Waiting on KP to add to my current setup. Chiller should be capable of holding 1500w @ 25c. Obviously, I can turn down the temp lower if I chose, but I digress.

Most X299 I've seen people post benches for seem to top at 4200Mhz, maybe you can go higher but you could try I guess.  I don't think we'll hit 5Ghz on hedt though.
