I saw the next-unit-percentage tweak in these forums. Anything else I should be looking at. I don't think so but might as well check.
I'm not sure what I should expect PPD from my GPU which is a 1080 currently. I'm seeing it estimate it anywhere from 1.2 million PPD to 1.3 million. I'm assuming there isn't really a lot of tweaking to do to it and this is about it. Figured I'd make sure since I've just been doing this for a few days now.

    The only other flag I use is this one, enter it the same way as the unit-percentage one.
    name = client-type
    value = advanced

    If your GPU is not a 1080TI, that's pretty good output. PPD will vary depending on which WU you get. Welcome to TEAM EVGA boomer!

    No it's just a normal 1080 from someone that isn't EVGA. I'm sorry EVGA I bought whatever was cheapest at the time shortly before you couldn't even get a card near MSRP for the longest time. I'm in the queue to replace it with the 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Lol. The 3080 per the spec on newegg is about half an inch less long than this beast.
    Another 12 hours of notifies or so. So someday.

    And of course i'm not actually getting that. But those are the estimates it's showing me when I'm not gaming. Obviously that crashes down those numbers in those times. I can't hold that against it.

    That is about what I’m seeing in a 1080FE. If OC’ed to the max a little more maybe, but don’t do that much anymore.
    Welcome boomer!

    It doesn't matter what brand you fold with, it's important to just do it. So thank you for joining the effort. Run what ya' brung

    Aside from setting the flag to advanced, you could:
    Use MSI Afterburner to overclock the GPU and memory; and cap the power of the GPU.
    A 5% performance loss, but technically possible to reduce power consumption by up to ~30% on the GPU.
    It works especially well when the GPU is watercooled.

    Or,
    You could run your folding app from Linux (a ~10% boost).

    Both in Linux and Windows you can overclock while at the same time power capping.
    While overclocking allows your shaders to run at ~2Ghz, the PPD gain is less than 10%.
    Instead cap the power, overclock, and aim for a ~1700-1900Mhz boost frequency. It's the optimal setting for GTX 1000/ GTX 16000 / RTX 2000 series GPUs.

    The performance penalty from capping power on a 1080 should be around 100-150k PPD, but with the power saved, you could easily run another GPU (without needing to swap out the PSU) in most cases.

    Thanks. I think I'm happy with how it's doing now. I actually ended up doing a slight under clock on the processor as I had a couple of Windows blue screen errors happen. One was unattended in the middle of the night. Maybe a proper overclock would've helped it too. But it's ran with the CPU back on folding(I had removed it briefly) for a couple of days in a row with no issues after that change. It's all air cooled. Temps have been fine though.

    I second the setting of power limits. I have very small impact to my PPD but much more power efficient. 2080ti(XC Ultra) standard power limit was 260W and I have it down to 180W. 2080S is at 150W and had a standard power limit of 270W(FTW3 Ultra). Have the two of them running on a X570 chipset with a 1600af cpu(not folding on CPU) with total power draw at 460W from the wall. I run on Linux Mint.I don’t use the PC for much else really so it doesn’t bother me to have these constraints set.
