Hello Everyone,
I bought my EVGA X299 ftw k motherboard back in 2018, so the BIOS of it must be very old version. Recently I finally got an CPU for it -- an i9-10920x. I knew I need to have the newer version BIOS so that the 10th Gen CPU can run with the motherboard. However, I do not have an old CPU to update the BIOS.
Here is my question. From this forum, I got some conflict information:
1) some posts said I have to get an old CPU or a pre-flashed BIOS chip to solve the problem,
2) but some other posts said even I can not get into OS, I can still get into BIOS with the old version BIOS, and then I can flash the BIOS by myself.
Could someone help to confirm that which one is correct? With 10th Gen CPU and older BIOS version, can I get into BIOS to flash it?
Thank you very much.
BTW, I tried by myself and I can not get into the BIOS. What I got are 3 beeps and the POST code is df. I am not sure if that means some hardware problem or not.
