Hi all,

I've had the 3080 FTW for around 2 weeks now and i been having an issue that really bothers me. My chrome windows flickers really hard while watching twitch, but it is not a constant flicker. The flicker is random, but it happens multiple times within a minute. I managed to find a "fix" to this, i disabled "hardware acceleration" on chrome but i want to have it enabled.

Can anyone tell me what can be causing this? I tried re-installing drivers, disabling extensions, all that and nothing.

May I ask... Are you using HDMI or DisplayPort? And have you tried the new hotfix from today?

My reasoning behind asking is... I had this same issue (2560x1440 @144hz) and switched to a new HDMI that can run @ 144hz and it solved my problem. I assumed I just had a bad DP cable and moved on...

I forgot to add that, yes. It only flickers on my 4k 144hz monitor, and i have two DP connected. This is a brand new monitor with new DP cables, only 3 weeks old.

Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome? I did that a long time ago and stopped having issues with chrome blacking out / flickering: https://www.lifewire.com/...tion-in-chrome-4125122

Might try an HDMI cable. Nvidia software will cut your Hz to 60. Just go in and tell it to run @ 144Hz, assuming you have the newer 2.1 or whatever it is now to get the 4k and 120+Hz...

I am not saying that is the problem solver, I am just suggesting one try it, as a process of elimination.

Chrome is junk when it comes to using various Nvidia GPUs/drivers (specifically the drivers - because some didn't have issues, and newer one reintroduced problems). I had problems with a 1080 Ti, a 2080 Super, and I'm not even going to try having it on with my 3090. That's 4 years of problems with it, if you were curious.

I don't have any HDMI cable that supports 4k 144hz + , might have to buy one and try.
What newer 2.1 you mean? I'm a little lost with that.

I never seen someone with that many issues. I always been a chrome user, and i have always had Nvidia cards and never had an issue. Had a Rog 1080ti before this one.

HDMI 2.1 cables are a new thing, and there isn't an official certification out yet - so it's supremely hit or miss as to whether or not a HDMI 2.1 cable can actually pass the required 48 gbps without issue. I purchased this 10 foot one and I am not having problems at 4K 120Hz RGB 10 bit with G-Sync on. https://www.amazon.com/gp..._s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The problems weren't constant, but popped up with different driver revisions so I just stopped trying and fixed it by turning it off in chrome.

This one seems like it is 4k 120hz? Is there any cable that supports up to 144hz ?

The description also lists 144Hz, but I can't vouch for that as my TV is only 120.

    Zeskit 8K Ultra HD High Speed 48Gpbs HDMI Cable 10ft, 8K60 4K120 144Hz eARC HDR10 4:4:4 HDCP 2.2 & 2.3 Compatible

Hopefully it works. If not, a new driver revision might (until Nvidia breaks it again x-D )

Gsync will do this if set to Enabled Fullscreen and windowed or sometimes if HDR is enabled on one monitor and not the other. My poor Wacom Cintiq Pro is only 4k 60hz (not Gsync compatible) and flickered like mad in photoshop until I turned Gsync to Fullscreen only on my other display. Studio Drivers did not have this issue.

Seems like the issue only occurs when I have a game in full screen running.

Edit - seems like this has to do with wallpaper engine and moving wallpapers too
