Okay, in the past I used Precision XOC with my 1080 Ti, I dabbled with X1 with it, but found that both the Fan controls for my FTW3 Hybrid, as well as the LED controls were, simply put, BETTER in XOC than in X1.
Today (well yesterday now), I got in an RTX 2070 Super XC Hybrid that I intend to use Step Up to get a 3080 FTW3 Ultra with...
I uninstalled using DDU with the drivers, removed the 1080 Ti, installed the 2070, did a clean install with the latest NVidia drivers, rebooted just to be safe, and then downloaded Precision X1 & installed it.
At first, it worked, loaded & ran things as normal... I decided to shut down, rearrange some things in my case, then booted back up. Did some more testing on the card, and decided to test it with my CPU overclocked to a tested-stable 5GHz. This is where the problems started.
I booted up in to Windows with the 5GHz settings, loaded X1 just to set the power-target to the maximum the slider would give me, and put the GPU's VRM/onboard fan to 75% to make sure it stayed nice & cool. Applied that, exited so having Precision open wouldn't effect my benchmark scores, and ran some 3DMark.
At that point I noticed I'd forgotten to plug in one of my drives, so I shut down to do so, booted back up... and Precision X1 crashes after loading up.
I assumed it was something simple, so I figured reboot & try again... still crashes.
Rebooted & reset my CPU to stock, still crashes.
Uninstalled X1 & reinstalled it. Still crashed.
Uninstalled it again, deleted all related folders, re-downloaded it to make sure my downloaded files weren't the issue, reinstalled it, and it started working again.
I shut down to do some further rearranging in my system again (and clean some fans), booted back up... and now X1 crashing on load again.
????????? At this point I'm thinking I should just use Afterburner since all I use X1 for, basically, is the Power Target increase & fan control.
Notes: I did not at any time have "Apply settings on start up" enabled. I did try having "Start with OS" both enabled & disabled, neither of those kept it from eventually starting to crash again.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Edit: As an aside, does Precision X1 have conflict issues with HWInfo64? That's the only thing I can think of that might be causing issues, but it doesn't always start crashing when HWInfo is loaded either.
