Okay, in the past I used Precision XOC with my 1080 Ti, I dabbled with X1 with it, but found that both the Fan controls for my FTW3 Hybrid, as well as the LED controls were, simply put, BETTER in XOC than in X1.
Today (well yesterday now), I got in an RTX 2070 Super XC Hybrid that I intend to use Step Up to get a 3080 FTW3 Ultra with...
I uninstalled using DDU with the drivers, removed the 1080 Ti, installed the 2070, did a clean install with the latest NVidia drivers, rebooted just to be safe, and then downloaded Precision X1 & installed it.
At first, it worked, loaded & ran things as normal... I decided to shut down, rearrange some things in my case, then booted back up.  Did some more testing on the card, and decided to test it with my CPU overclocked to a tested-stable 5GHz.  This is where the problems started.
I booted up in to Windows with the 5GHz settings, loaded X1 just to set the power-target to the maximum the slider would give me, and put the GPU's VRM/onboard fan to 75% to make sure it stayed nice & cool.  Applied that, exited so having Precision open wouldn't effect my benchmark scores, and ran some 3DMark.
At that point I noticed I'd forgotten to plug in one of my drives, so I shut down to do so, booted back up... and Precision X1 crashes after loading up.
I assumed it was something simple, so I figured reboot & try again... still crashes.
Rebooted & reset my CPU to stock, still crashes.
Uninstalled X1 & reinstalled it.  Still crashed.
Uninstalled it again, deleted all related folders, re-downloaded it to make sure my downloaded files weren't the issue, reinstalled it, and it started working again.
I shut down to do some further rearranging in my system again (and clean some fans), booted back up... and now X1 crashing on load again.
????????? At this point I'm thinking I should just use Afterburner since all I use X1 for, basically, is the Power Target increase & fan control.

Notes: I did not at any time have "Apply settings on start up" enabled.  I did try having "Start with OS" both enabled & disabled, neither of those kept it from eventually starting to crash again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: As an aside, does Precision X1 have conflict issues with HWInfo64? That's the only thing I can think of that might be causing issues, but it doesn't always start crashing when HWInfo is loaded either.

Mine just started crashing after having been working for weeks.
I open it, it crashes immediately.
No changes were made anytime recently, short of os updates.
    I have a 2070s.
Attempted uninstall, uninstall stops with "error opeing file for writing" on file driver-x64.sys
Had to restart and manually delete this file. Then i could uninstall and resinstall ok.
    However the problem still persists.

    Not sure what changed.
I also do not have "Apply settings on start up" checked. (paid that price before)

Hope someone chimes in with something helpful, if not, i may come back to this later today or this weekend and see if i can figure it out.

It seems that if you right click and choose to run as administrator it is working. At least for me at this moment it is.

    Have you uninstalled it yet?
If not try that, and if it hangs removing file driver-x64.sys, reboot, and manually remove the file in C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\
Then download and install latest version.
Right click and choose run as administrator again.

It wasn't working for me at all at first.
All i really did was remove and reinstall, manually dealing with that file.
And now it works, only if i right click and choose run as admin though.
Maybe its a two step work-around for now?

Deleting the appdata EVGA folders (in Local and Roaming) makes it work again. That seems to be the only way I can get it to work. But I have to repeat it every time I restart my pc.

Yep, same here pretty much, down to the uninstall error happening without a reboot.

Mine is automatically set to launch in Admin mode & asks me every time for permission, still crashes on launch after some usage... Maybe it is indeed a windows update that caused the issue.

Tried that too, so far mine has not crashed again (yet) but I'm sure once it does it will quit working again completely.

I noticed yesterday that mine had crashed too. I did this and it fixed it. Open a command prompt running it as administrator. Run the system file checker. sfc /scannow   It found errors on my drive and fixed them. Then X1 runs like it is supposed to. A side note.......... before I did that I booted into safe mode and installed the newest X1 over top of itself and rebooted but that didn't fix it. The system file checker did. I am on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I hope this helps you!

Didn't have any errors on SFC check, hopefully this issue magically resolved itself.

If that didn't do it then maybe try safe mode and install the newest X1 to the same folder. It would not even install until I went to safe mode. Just a thought but can't hurt to try.

Hasn't errored & went back to crashing yet... even after I fiddled with XTU & managed to bork my Windows for a bit with it by adjusting too many things at once in BIOS.
The OSD is very finnicky & doesn't seem to work very often in programs that it did work in with XOC.
Really hoping by the time I get my 3080 FTW3 from step-up these issues are worked out in the 30-series version of X1.

Xbox store crashes in seconds if precision is active. Anyone faced the same issue?

Iv traced it by event log view to check why it crashes, I figured out the file (starts with p /forgot the name) which belongs to precision.
