Just thought I'd share my results for anybody who is interested.   So I just upgraded to a 10700k / z490 / 32 GB 3000mhz ram from a 7700k / z270 / 16 GB 2333mhz ram.    After the upgrade used the same nvidia driver and exact same settings in game (Extreme with a couple of things turned off like anti aliasing)

Did this upgrade help my Super 2080 much?  I picked three games. Here is the before and after FPS from the upgrade:

Borderlands 3

Before: 87
After:   94

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Before:  96fps
After:    102fps

Jedi Fallen Order

Before:  102fps

After:     128fps

Looks like Jedi benefited the most.    Was hoping for more but still, I'll take what I can get.

honestly speaking imo it is not worth it at all. i mean 5% to 15% increase only in some games! if you waited a bit till new AMD CPU is launched or at least till intel's next gen would have been better but still just my opinion.
believe it or not I run EVGA RTX 2080 Super paired with i7-4930k ( CPU released in September 2013!!!!!!!) + 16GB DDR3 of ram and I never ever stutter, I get the lowest FPS 60~70 running at 2k with High to max settings in most games.

so will upgrade maybe in beginning of 2021 when both AMD & Intel releases their next CPUs - basically if AMD releases a good CPUs you will see a massive drop in Intel CPU prices "mark my words" :D

    peace!

Yeah I tend to agree but I had some extra cash to burn so thought why not.  I honestly thought the gains would be larger to be honest though.  Still I'm a little bit more future proofed than I was.
