I have been seeing alot of posts coming up with people claiming they are getting crashes and game shutdowns with their cards.  For those of you lucky people that was able to get an evga 3080/3090...how has your experience been with this card so far? Mostly curious about the FTW3 but any feedback would be great.

Also very interested in this, but please include the card you are using as I have a feeling every version of the EVGA 3080s / 3090s are going to be different in what changes were made right before launch.

The top post in this forum addresses the issue. but TL;DR is that it was only an issue on boards sent to reviewers. All consumer boards have the same cap layout as the FE editions and do not have issues.

Ran mine for 2hr in port royal stress then started gaming/VR. No issues so far!
I am not worried, as someone who has had to RMA before with EVGA. They make it as quick and painless as possible. I always up my cards to 5yr warranty, as I will be onto the next series by then.

I just spammed the site on safari, and keep going back instead of reloading. That is the only tip I have for the EVGA store.

I recently got the EVGA 3080 XC3 and have experienced crashing ever since I installed it with a couple games.

The first is No Man's Sky. However, it did just receive a new update with lots of bugs. It's hard to say if the issue is related to drivers, the game update, or hardware problem. At first, the game crashed and would give me a "token" to submit the developers. Now, the game just freezes and stops responding with no error message.

Overwatch also now crashes. It randomly will close, saying the video card device was lost.

I did not do any overclocking to the GPU or my system. Just plugged it in and started playing. The errors don't happen very often.

I'm not sure of any additional information to provide.

The official NVIDIA 30 series Game Ready Driver does not work with my 3090 FTW. Also, the latest Geforce Experience is broken for me as well. I have to use the DCH/Studio driver and no GE for the time being. The GRD for some reason doesn't let my GPU go above 15% GPU usage. Geforce Experience forces all games to minimize and never let me actually open them.

The DCH/Studio driver has everything working 100%. I even got a stable 2065Mhz OC :D

Most recent drivers installed?  Have you swapped back to your old video card to see if the games are working properly?

Take this as an edge case and not the norm. I have 3090 FTW3 Ultra.  I think my issue is a combination of the first drivers that are not very good, I am getting an upgraded HDMI cable for 48gbps, monitor is a LG CX 48" which has known issues with 30 series and is getting a firmware update rushed out.  So I am having all sorts of issues - basically no games run for me right now; what I've tried are:
    • RDR2 - can't go above 1080p without crashing
    • Battlefront II - can only run in window, no full screen at any resolution
    • Doom Eternal - Locks up, have to crash it out - after a 10 minutes
    • Resident Evil 2 remastered - sends my monitor "Invalid Format" and I can't see anything - only able to do windowed
    • Death Stranding - jittery as hell, everything shakes, screen has black screen flashing, had a crash
    • Control - horrible artifacts, grainy quality... looks really bad and I get they strange visually shifted blocks from time to time, looks like screen tearing, couple crashes
I'm also having the GPU & MEM clocks get stuck at maximum on occasion, and when my games crash I started checking the HWI logs and I consistently see that the GPU spiked over 2000mhz and within 10 seconds of that it crashes. I find the fans pulse quite a bit too.  My temps are all fairly good. idle 29c, base load 52c, heavy high 60's.

Please don't read much into this - I think I have enough things going on with drivers, HDMI cable and LG monitor firmware that it's not fair yet to blame the card.

Really interested in your thoughts on the 3090 especially in VR gaming.
What card did you come from?

I currently have an EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra, and am torn between either the 3080 FTW3 or the 3090 FTW3. Big price difference between the two. I would not mind so much paying the difference for the 3090 if I thought it would really benefit me for VR over the 3080. I do a lot of combat flight sims and racing sim.

3080 XC3 here. After turning off hardware scheduling it's been running fine for me.

Overclocked it a bit for 3dmark Timespy and Port Royale. Tested it in Red Dead Redemption, Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Outer Worlds, Metro Exodus, and a few less intensive games like Crusader Kings 3.

Seems to be stable so far.

I have the most recent drivers installed. I haven't swapped back to my old card (RTX 2070 Super), but everything worked fine before I got the 3080.

I'm almost certain this is a driver issue. I can run 3DMark stress tests no problem.

For now, I intend to try trouble shooting tips as they come into this forum and wait for a driver update. If I get fed up, I'll swap back in my old GPU and consider returning the 3080.

Just try the studio driver over the game ready driver. It is more stable based on my tests and everyone else that has swapped it it.

Gonna try this. I had the ordinary game drivers running and Hearthstone of all games crashed and caused the screen to flicker lol.

My 3090 ftw3 ultra is freezing in games with what I expected to be reasonable overclocks (e.g., +70 core). Not sure if it's just riding the razor's edge out of the box or if it was a PSU problem. I've swapped from my Corsair AX860i to an EVGA 1600 G2 after hearing Linus Sebastian mention that they'd had issues seemingly related to a 850W power supply during the review process for the 3080. My system was running around 650-700w which was totally doable for that PSU but we'll see if this makes a difference. So far I also haven't been able to get through an OC Scan run with the power target at 107% without windows rebooting.

3080 XC3 no crashing but issues with Gsync but that is driver issue for all.
