Hello all, First time poster. RTX 2080 Ti SC Monitor assus ROG @ 2560x1440 @ 144 Hz Cables are all firm. Noticed faint flickering . It is faint but notice able. Present on desktop and in game too. In Shadow of Tomb raider on bright scenes it is very noticeable. Idle temp at 31-32 C and in game around 60C. Card is under a year old. Any thoughts please Regards

I believe you have three DP on the back of your card. Sajin might want to know if the one end of your monitor cable connected to the GPU results in the same flickering using any of the other two DP on the back of the GPU.

This is the monitor I have. I believe there is no HDMI port on it.
Do you think I ought to try the 2nd display port on the card? Does it matter which I use? I have always used the top one.

Yes, I’d try all the dp outputs. If all the dp outputs do the same thing I would try disabling g-sync. If both of those things don’t help I would buy a new dp cable that is vesa certified.

Ok so tried all 3 DPs on the card. Clean install the drivers (safe mode etc). Bought the cable (Suggested by Sajin) and tried but the flicker remains unfortunately.
What next?
Any suggestions please...

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately I don't have access to a compatable monitor. I have an old 22 inch samsung monitor which probably has a DVI ? connection. Likely to be full HD of old. Will that do for testing you think?
BTW the card is not hot to touch.
I have the monitor at 100Hz at the moment and its not too bad....

That monitor would work, but you’ll need to buy a dp to dvi adapter.

Sounds more like the monitor maybe can't hold the high refresh rate anymore & is starting to go out on you now...
I had similar issue with my previous Samsung monitor . 1st I got occasional flicker and eventually solved it by putting it down to 120 Hz --- issues came back after a few months.... -> moved it down to 100 =fixed,.
then eventually bad color banding occurred at boot up , then glitching black & white,..etc... had to RMA .
Each repaired monitor would only last about 6 months after that before same symptoms would happen. the boards Samsung was using just couldn't actually sustain 144 for long periods of time before overheating & going bad.

OK gents....I was suspecting it to be monitor issue which is about 6 years old now. At the moment it is tolerable at 100 Hz .
@Sajin .... the old monitor I have is unlikely to have high enough refresh rate for me to test?
So if I have to change monitor what would be ideal specs? I will be looking at 27 inch WQHD. I don't need 3D so is high refresh rate crucial?
I am a gamer but play casually and not seriously. Apart from that it is general use.
Is 4K the way to go? I have 2080Ti ....

Gaming --> you want a 2560 x 1440 ( 2K ) monitor at 120 Hz or higher . IPS panel is best, but best compromise is the newer VA panel tech.
Stay away from TN panels.... faster speeds but washed out, muted bland color palettes .
4K monitors are not all that great for gaming , as you can google that and see for yourself.
Or look into a TV with great specs, if that is your thing.?

Should have at least 60hz on old monitor to test with. I’d just buy another 120-144hz 1440p panel like you have now if it turns out to be the monitor causing the issue.

Well now that you have stated that there isn’t any flickering at 60hz then I would say to just straight up replace the monitor. Earlier in the thread you said there was less flickering at 60hz, and did not state there was none at all 60hz.
