People that bought a 3090 knew from specs that 10-15% at best was what to expect with a bunch more vram, I am good with that because 3080 is non existent at this point, everyone's situation is unique so do what works for you. To get a 20GB GDDR6x 3080 will be probably at least 1200 so when considering that it isn't that bad when you consider the 10-15% boost

    It's hilarious and so true.

Can't wait till Nvidia releases a proper Titan.

Also, after this embarrassing release from Nvidia, I hope RDNA2 is the dark horse in the division now. AMD please don't disappoint.

Aye, Steve's calling it like it is. Card had no business being marketed for gamers or 8K gaming. Hopefully a much better priced 12GB 3090 is in the future.

What if you purchased both a 3080 and 3090 and are fully aware of the differences?

I only got it because it was all that was left.  Would have been good with a 3080.

I think that's exactly why Nvidia doesn't ship 70 series first despite having far more usable dies.

It's really bad though that OC 3080 vs. OC 3090 is basically the same gaming performance.  Leaves 2 options:

Buy a 3080 20GB if it ever comes out
Buy a 3090 only if it has an unlocked BIOS power limit

The plain 3090 is basically like a Titan...you just know the "Ti" version is coming that's going to be 99% the same at 60% the cost.  Yeah sure I can "afford" to take a $600 hit but effing-A I don't really want to.

This video was hilarious lol. It makes complete sense though. 3090 is completely misbranded. But that being said, its selling like hotcakes.

I've read through a couple of reviews, even one that used a bone stock 8700K where the difference between a 3080 and 3090 looked really bad (like 7 to 9% better, even at 4K). With a faster/overclocked CPU, and testing 4K, there is a definite difference in 3080 to 3090 performance - even more so for the AiB cards with higher watt limits. I agree that at 1080P the difference is negligible, and the CPU is still a bottleneck at 1440P. So, if you don't game at 4K, have an older CPU, a non-overclocked CPU - you might want to settle for a 3080, or keep what you have especially if it's 2080 Ti.

He is far from the only one to think that about the RTX 3090. Many others are the same, they just say it in a nicer way so it blends better. I think his raw speech is what I like in his content. You should never see his Oneshot about MSI if you don't like him having an opinion and not being afraid of saying words :P

Honestly, it is a bit of a relief that the gains are so small considering the price difference is so high. Happy to have an easy choice when picking the 3080. My only real hesitation is whatever AMD might pull up its sleeve.

Seems like for certain professional use cases the 3090 could be a decent value, but for everyone else the 3080 is definitely the better choice..

I think we might be jumping the gun and haven't seen the next gen gaming triple A titles.  You might see the 3090 perform better than the 3080 in 4K and lets not forget, the drivers haven't been matured.

If I could afford it, I'd buy a 3090.   115fps is still better than 100fps in a 4k gaming situation if you don't care about how much money you spent for it.

That GN review was SAVAGE AF to put it mildly. I agree with his point on how Nvidia is marketing this card all wrong,All the same, imho,he came across as arrogant in that video, after the Q2 "testing"....that wasn't testing it was sticking his finger in nvidia's eye,repeatedly.. I have watched literally every video he has upped since about 2014.

Solid review with some nice shots at the ridiculous marketing message of 8K gaming. I appreciate his attitude.
