Even during the step-up program the prices are wrong now ...
Wanting to step-up to a 3080 FTW3 Ultra, EVGA is asking 1007 euros for it...

Update:
EVGA refunded 5% and DHL apparently will refund the fees paid for shipping/tax/customs.

Great news and also the prices have been now fixed to be without VAT.

Shop looks ok now, but everyone who bought on release day still paid the wrong price (base price including VAT + VAT separately).

The prices were overinflated on three points:
- VAT was included in the base price (should be without VAT)
- VAT was 25 % instead of 20% in my case
- They shipped from Taiwan and that triggered additional fees/custom from DHL

The fixed point 2 and 3. 1 was only fixed in the shop for future buyers. Not sure if they do anything about that for the people who bought a card with the overinflated prices.
But I guess thats what you get when you buy on release day.

Wonder how many release day buyers were actually real users and not scalpers. Maybe they'll refund the extra VAT later, although i'd imagine that would be quite a mathematical workout. But things are getting better and they're really working on them, so that's really good. Maybe some other company would just release a statement via mass mail that the prices are indeed correct and that would be the end of it.

Not only EVGA Europe, I think the price of hardware totally is unfair because of the Covid-19 situation.
People struggle to keep jobs, many lost jobs they worked years, most people avoid buying anything except food and most important things for the house.
In so bad situation when the Chinese Virus killed more than 1.000.000 people for less than a year price of motherboards, processors, are ultra-expensive.

It was sold out in minutes like in the US. The people who got one were just lucky. If apparently it comes with a price. ;)

If you have one and you're from Europe, you can consider yourself very lucky. And that goes for any brand of the 3080/3090.

Re: Absurd prices on the European site Evga 2020/10/01 10:46:42 (permalink)
People sacrifice everything to buy hardware first...
I did the same until one day I check in the closet something nice to wear and I found only old clothes...
I was close to crying, desperate because from 13-14 years I used on Italian Urban branded cloth and 8-10 didn't buy anything because of expensive hardware.
Then I decide to change that and from mid-2019 to the end of 2020 I spend close to 4000 euros on cloth.
That's the price I paid, but I must say that I didn't pay maybe 1-2 things full price, some of the discounts were up to 60%.
510 euro worth jacket I paid a little more than 200. In total, I saved at least 40-45%. The price would be much higher without discounts.
Or I had the option to upgrade my PC to some AMD with the same RAM type and similar things. I decide to wait and refresh my jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, sweatshirts, and 70-80% I finish. Now I have new branded stuff, mostly DIESEL, REPLAY, something little NAPAPIJRI, and two pairs of LEVI'S 501, one for spring and the other for autumn.
Because no matter how much you are rich, pair or two of LEVI'S 501 in color and type you want is necessary.
Now I wait for DDR5. I want to enjoy more in E-ATX motherboards in my beautiful real Lian Li PC-O11 WXC.

Here in Australia PLE computers have the EVGA FTW3 Ultra for $1259.
Sc*rpte* want $1499 for the same.  Waiting for a mug to turn up, or going to mug someone.  Their price is not the worst either..
