I am thinking about getting the EVGA 3090 Kingpin card and then put a EK waterblock on it for custom water cooling. Would that work? I think EVGA 3090 Kingpin is based on the reference PCB design which the EK-waterblock would support. But want to see if anyone who has previous experience with custom water cooling with EVGA cards can confirm they do use reference PCB design? Thanks in advance!

There is a pending announcement from EKWB that will possibly answer your questions.

The KINGPIN card is meant for the most 'tinker' oriented enthusiasts. Since EVGA is obviously planning on people disassembling that card in order to fit LN2 pots on it and stuff, I'm sure you'll be able to put an EKWB block on it. 100%. Especially since the 3090 cards are now being customized by board partners, there's no way EKWB leaves out the enthusiast club.

It depends on whether EK makes a compatible water block. Nowhere near 100%. The 3090 KPE is not reference design.

I have to say though, the Kingpin cards are NEVER reference PCB design. EVGA completely redoes the power delivery and distribution (turning that crap up to 11) for hardcore overclockers looking to break world records. And the boards also have different mounting points and stuff for the LN2 pots I was talking about before. So no, it won't even be close reference, but EKWB has made blocks for the kingpin series before, and I'm willing to bet that EVGA will do their own kingpin hydrocopper version as well, so EKWB may not be necessary for you.

Thanks guys! Looks like I should wait for EK to make announcement to be 100% if the EK-waterblock would support the EVGA Kingpin then, thank you for the information!

ahhh I see, I didn't know that the Kingpin series were never reference PCB designs, that is good to know!
I'll take a look on the Hydro Copper version as well, thanks!

I wouldn't bet on a block being available at release date though.
Maybe later like in a few months or something.
Their focus is clearly going to be on the more mainstream versions, with reference PCB, and potentially things like FTW3.

Also keep in mind we don't technically have a release date for the KingPin. There is no way of knowing if EK even has the final specs of that PCB to even really design the waterblock yet.

Which is why I didn't understand the move to make it a hybrid card. A lot of unnecessary expense for something that is coming off....

I'm pretty sure GamersNexus reported in a video about RTX 3090 that the KingPin version was coming with a 360 rad this time. Maybe I heard wrong.
Kingpin and his partner Tin design the PCB on their own. I would assume it is NOT nvidia reference PCB.

Absolute beast of a card. I would love to buy one but I'd be looking at probably $3000 + 15% sales tax for one in canada. I remember 20 years ago I swore I'd never spend $700 on a video card again. My last two builds were SLI so didn't last one upgrade. At least now buying a high end card it will last you a couple years, not out dated in 6 months.

TiN doesn't work for EVGA any more. He left EVGA 8 months ago.

I don't know about that. It's outdated as soon as something better comes out and you decide that it is outdated. It's psychology, not objective reality.
