I would love to know if there's any information at all regarding power limits. The very high limit on the 2080ti FTW3 was a key factor in purchase choice compared to other cards, especially given that in the 20 series there was quite a vast gulf between the highest and the lowest within the same tier of card.

Even after the reveal, so far we've got little to work with, other than the reference cards looking pretty thirsty as a baseline.

Cheers, and looking forward to the release! Will be my first time getting something like a Titan with the 3090 (provided I can nab some stock somewhere)!

There was a vast gulf between top tier cards and the lower end models? For cooling maybe. Actual performance wise? Maybe 5% max, if that.

Other than that we literally won’t know until the 17th. I expect power limits and true OC headroom to be about the same as on Turing. But I could be wrong.

I am expecting power limits to be higher on the higher end models just like they were on the 20 series cards.

Well, base FE 2080ti was 320W vs say the ftw3's 373W. Good point

Yeah, very good point about the cooling being the larger differentiator, and vast gulf a bit hyperbolic on my part. My bad! That said, the 320W of an FE 2080ti vs the 373 of the ftw3 was not a negligible difference I thought (certainly for very high res gaming & certain settings very high that really push the card to its max constantly, though again in fairness that's not currently very common).

Definitely harder this time to judge the cooling performance on the baseline model comparatively, especially depending on what case they'll be in with the difference in where the exhausted hot air is mostly being pushed. In some ways, I'm really surprised to see how conventional all the AIB designs are, and that does make me wonder if the NV design just hasn't panned out thermally.

Asus already released info that their higher end cards would have a 400W limit.

That'll be fun.  I wonder if that included the OC too though or just the regular Strix.  Imagine if the OC has another 50W.

The triple 8pin to make it so there's less (no?) need to pull more from motherboard was an interesting read. Do we know what the ftw3 etc connectors are yet? The space in the heatsink at the conventional area for the plugs looks like it to me, but really I'm just speculating

400W is pretty good for a 3080, that's +25% over stock and a bit higher than a 373W FTW3 and 380W Galax 2080 Ti bios, considering they are nearly the same thing.  Should be a pretty legit card.

I'm on an EVGA Supernova T2 850w with a 9900k. Should that be enough for the 3080? Coming from a 1080, so not sure how much the power consumption increased with the 2xxx and 3xxx lines.

HC and Hybrid are FTW3 PCBs under the hood. Just different cooling (and maybe different default frequencies etc.)

Really? This has me looking at the HC now, even though I deplore the aesthetic design of the block. Jacob said HC is due out sometime in October? Do you have information indicating that the HC is the FTW3 pcb? 3x8 pin? Is it clocked higher or lower than FTW3?

We don't have frequencies at all.
FTW is supposed to be 3 8-pin.

I don't remember there being a release date given other than "soon after the 3080/3090 release dates" for the specialized cards. FTW3 and HC are confirmed 3 8-pins and are the same PCB, as mentioned only differences are cooling for FTW3, Hybrid, and HC.
