I've been a bit out of the game, but I just got myself a new Z490 board and it's pretty slick. The OC Robot is pretty impressive, immediately taking my 10900kf to 5.1ghz.
However, it seems like I could get more if I adjusted the B-CLK. I was going to look around for reference material here like I have ever since I bought an X58 board here and I don't see one. I noticed a previous generation or two doesn't have it either.
Has that gone away?

X99 FTW, I7-5820K, GTX 970.

It seems like a lot has slowed down on the mobo forums around here since the days of x58! Not too many signs of life or overclocking enthusiasm!

All previous gen top end boards like X79, X299, Z390 Darks had OC guides posted on my site. But I don't think it will be happening for new ones, as I'm not in the game anymore and don't have hardware :)

It is much easier than back in the day, much less to tweak to get things stable. Not really requiring a in depth guide, more of a “set it and forget it” overclock after getting it stable speeds these days.

I did not find a guide per-se but the Overclocking review of the evga z490 on babeltech reviews was really helpful. See link below if it let’s me post it.

Not really, it you push the limits it was always hard, and back in the day you didn't not have so many exposed goodies in BIOSes, etc. Even to modify some aux voltages like IO you would need to undust soldering iron. And advanced stuff that we take for granted today such as per-core overclock, fine-tuned timings, XMP profiles, etc was not a thing back in the day either.

That is true if you are pushing the limits and doing the stuff that TiN and Kingpin do with their rigs. The CPU of this generation are actually more complicated and many more settings to get stable at the extreme.

What I should say is that it is because of the efforts and improvements from EVGA, TiN, and Kingpin this generation was very easy to get a stable O/C, with not doing much other than running the OC Robot for a baseline speed. After that I tweaked the voltages a bit and have had no issues other than ordering a CLC because she is one spicy meatball over 5ghz.

It will be truly missed. Thanks for everything you did!
