One needs to be the main router but the second one can be a slave. Your manufacturer will have those details. It’s in the set up of the second one. Must be the same manufacturer. Hard to do with two different manufacturers. They do not play nice together. I would recommend two of the same manufacturer and model. I did this a few years back. I bought an identical router that was refurbished as my slave. Worked very well. You could by a USB Wi-Fi adapter for the second one if you have a USB port. Here is link to a quick search I did - https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=how+do+i+connect+two+routers+wirelessly&fr=ipad&pcarrier=AT&T&pmcc=310&pmnc=410

Tried the wifi adapter thing. Didn't help much. Maybe I'll try the matching routers. EDIT: Just looked up on Google how to use a second Router. I read you have to use a cable, and connect both Routers. Well that would have to be very long to reach the front, and back Routers. That's kind of a negative.

I would see if the extender has a ethernet port as some do and run a cable from that to the PC. Hopefully that will improve things.

usually you can run an actual router/modem into a slave extender ( as mentioned above ) ... and it's done in software & settings. Shouldn't be any need to run a long cable at all. Obviously hardwired cables are always optimum way to get the best service.. but you definitely can make the other into an extender pretty easily. You probably have to read all through the documentation for the unit from their online website.

Thanks. I'll make sure it's not running. So I reset the Extender, and went through all the steps to set it up again. Works better now. Thanks everyone.

Keep in mind when using an extender, you'll want to extend a good signal. Putting it 3/4 away almost spells repeating a poor signal. The extender should be 1/4 to 1/2 away from the source of the signal you want to extend. Experiment by plugging it into different outlets along the way. Concrete and steel walls obstruct the signal also. Some extenders even have a light on it which reflects signal strength.

It can also be good to set up a mesh Wifi setup. I recently went Wireless AX or Wireless 6 for my PC's and if you use that level of extenders you really don't notice much if any lag.

I had the same exact problem and tried 2 routers. My personal beef this setup is that your phone (or device) will still try to hang-on to the first WiFi signal it gets, even when the signal is too weak to use. This causes you to have to constantly change the WiFi that you're using on your phone. Maybe not a problem for you, but it really annoyed me. I'm now running 1 router.

It would be best to go with the Eero Pro 6 if you can afford it since at $599 it’s got enough speed for about gigabit internet speeds. The Eero 6 non pro is also a good choice but only has speeds up to 500mbps which still is pretty good. I am kind of waiting to see if they are part of a Prime Day or Black Friday sale though before I upgrade.
Also if you haven’t upgraded the modem you rent in years it’s worth making sure you are using the latest equipment.

My clients with Fios in NYC hit 850mbps no problem with their eero pro systems. I think the WiFi 6 ( for eero) selling point is the 75+ clients per AP. Personally I would save the money and get the current eero Pro unless you have 1gb up and down. but eero all the way, stuff just works.
