Any ETA on the new firmware for x299 Dark?
 
MB is x299 Dark and CPU Intel Core i9 10900X. with 32 GB memory (4x8)    G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR 32GB (4x8GB) 3200MHz DDR4
After installing the latest firmware can only get Raid 0 without Vrock key
Boot not saving in Bios and machine won't shut down.
I have 4 memory cards and see That Dimm2 is no being recognized.

When is a new BIOS firmware coming out for x299 FTW K ?

There's a lot of bugs, that have got to get fixed !
1. Randomly high spinning fans during boot
2. BCLK of 102.8MHZ at ALLCORE OC and PER CORE OC during rendering
3. You've got to set your 1st core as high as you want to set the other cores (PER CORE OC), otherwise the other cores won't run at the set speed, but lower.

This happens when using Hybrid (smooth video project) and Adobe Premiere.
For monitoring I'm using HWinfo v.6.12.

Before switching to x299, I had a 4790K and a MSI Z87 Mpower with the exact same harddrive and software installed.
Everything was fine, no BCLK spikes and none of the issues as with the X299 FTW K.

This is not a software (app) related issue.

Thank you! I'm asking which software this happens with to see if I can reproduce it with my X299 Dark setup. Unfortunately I don't own/use Premiere. Do you see it with any other software?

Yeah no problem, you can DM me as soon as you've reproduced it.
Make sure that the video takes up to 10 minutes rendering time, at least. From that point it starts raising the BCLK while rendering.

any words on cache max/min locked settings? i would like to have this option on the micro2 board... my asrock have it which keeps the cache locked at all times in whatever settings i put. those quick runs where it would wake up for a idle state in short intervals would negate performance with this using @ min the same as max

I just wish they'd fix the VRM fan issue on the FTW.  Still 75% of the time I cold boot it ignores my setting of 25% and runs at 100% so I have to power down after a boot into Windows and start it back up again...

Almost 4 monthes and still no update in sight for the flawful per Core VC UEFI, really annoying.
 
"Built for the Next Generation" should be taken literally ?!

So how did this beta bios work out for you?




IIRC I've already provided update on that but quick recap for your convenience is that it did what I was looking for. Rather than showing NVMe info for maximum of 4 drives it showed it for all I had in which was total of 7 (one U.2, two M.2 in mb slots, and four on PCIe card in slot bifurcated through BIOS).

Not to mention that X299 PCH uses 4 lanes, correct? So bifurcation in PE3 or PE4 wouldn't be even possible if it was using PCH.
 
When I put card with 4 drives in bifurcated PE4 (x16) I see all 4 drives. When I move it to bifurcated PE3 I see only first two drives. Which to me confirms it is using CPU lanes (16 and 8 of them respectively).

No my question has not been answered. You and I assume it should be running off the CPU lanes, but I would like confirmation from EVGA. Just because you put the card in PE4 and saw 4 drives, does not mean it is running off CPU lanes plus you were incorrect on calling PE6 an x8 slot, so, well you know. I do have a ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 PCIe 3.0 X 4 Expansion Card V2 coming in, so I can check it myself if nobody from EVGA chimes in. You posted you have your ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 card in PE6, which is x4 PCH lanes when not using a video card in that slot and your drive in M.2 80mm slot got dropped out of CPU lanes to PCH lanes and you could use all 4 drives seems to be a mystery too as you stated the PE3 x16 slot with x8 lanes only saw 2 drives.

Right now I have 7 NVMe drives in my X299 Dark. One on U.2 PU2 port, one in each M.2 slot, and four on Asus Hyper M.2 x16 V2 card that is in PE6 slot that is bifurcated through non-VROC option in 1.23 BIOS.
 
When I take a look at NVME Information in BIOS it lists only four drives and it seems to list only first four in following order: a) PCIe slots, b) U.2 ports, and c) M.2 slots.
 
So if Asus card is not in it lists what is on U.2 PU2 plus what is in M.2 slots for a total of three (see screenshots below).
 
If Asus card has two drives in it lists those first, then what is on U.2 PU2, and then just one of M.2 slot drives.
 
If Asus card has four drives in it lists those four and nothing else.
 
Windows seems to be able to find and use all of them fine.
 
So this seems to be case of hardcoding number of those that will be displayed to four even though they all can be discovered.
 
Can this limitation be removed, please?

#1 My card is not in PE6, nor I ever tried PE6. That was a typo. My card is in PE4 and I've used it in both PE3 and PE4. You should've been able to notice that from my screenshots that do not show PE6 used, they show PE3/PE4.
 
#2 You seem very insistent you are correct about PE6, which means I am incorrect about it, and it seems your thread of reasoning is that automatically makes me incorrect about anything I might say. I could use same type of "logic" about your statements but honestly I don't care about it.

I'm not sure what your problem is or how you seem to not be able to read but the screenshot you keep posting says exactly what you are wanting to know.  No reason to be rude to other forum members about it.
 
PE1 and PE4 are the only x16 slots in the system and they both are from the CPU.
 
1) If you plug a card into PE2 it makes PE1 and PE2 both x8 from CPU.
 
2) If you plug a card into PE3 it makes PE3 and PE4 both x8 from CPU.
 
If you have every slot filled it will be x8 x8 x8 x8 x4 x8 with x4 from PCH and the rest from CPU.  You can enable one CPU M.2 or U.2 and use the remaining 4 lanes but is not really relevant here.
 
PE5 and PE6 are the only PCH slots in the system and PE6 is only a PCH slot if you enable the M.2 and U.2 ports.

#1 My card is not in PE6, nor I ever tried PE6. That was a typo. My card is in PE4 and I've used it in both PE3 and PE4. You should've been able to notice that from my screenshots that do not show PE6 used, they show PE3/PE4.
 
#2 You seem very insistent you are correct about PE6, which means I am incorrect about it, and it seems your thread of reasoning is that automatically makes me incorrect about anything I might say. I could use same type of "logic" about your statements but honestly I don't care about it.


I read what you posted, which was the card was in PE6 and I looked at the screenshots of the drives not showing up, so I figured the card wasn't showing up either. The easy thing to do is just say it was a typo and not try to blame me for not looking at the screenshots. You posted the incorrect PCI-e slot you were using, you incorrectly posted that PE6 was not a x16 slot, sorry if I don't take what you post as gospel.

I'm guessing EVGATech_LeeM worded his post wrong and meant a PCI-e x16 slot with X16 lanes? Not "(This can be used to set a PCIe x16 slot to x4x4x4x4 without VROC feature)" that he posted?

Yes sir, I have used both methods before. Calling late on a Sunday will get you a person that doesn't care or know much nor do they have access to an engineer to verify my question as EVGATech_LeeM has during the week. Seriously, right now people are saying only PE1 and PE4 can be used in x4x4x4x4 mode when EVGATech_LeeM posted "(This can be used to set a PCIe x16 slot to x4x4x4x4 without VROC feature)". So did EVGATech_LeeM word his post wrong?
 
Using the ticket system I got back a completely wrong answer and had to correct the person that responded. Once corrected, the person provided the correct  answer. You know what the question was? What the part number was for the VROC key EVGA used to sell for the X299 Dark and the person responded back they have no part number for the VROC key and it was never made available for the public to puchase. Once I correct him that EVGA used to sell them, he got me the part number.

I'm not sure what your problem is or how you seem to not be able to read but the screenshot you keep posting says exactly what you are wanting to know.  No reason to be rude to other forum members about it.
 
PE1 and PE4 are the only x16 slots in the system and they both are from the CPU.
 
1) If you plug a card into PE2 it makes PE1 and PE2 both x8 from CPU.
 
2) If you plug a card into PE3 it makes PE3 and PE4 both x8 from CPU.
 
If you have every slot filled it will be x8 x8 x8 x8 x4 x8 with x4 from PCH and the rest from CPU.  You can enable one CPU M.2 or U.2 and use the remaining 4 lanes but is not really relevant here.
 
PE5 and PE6 are the only PCH slots in the system and PE6 is only a PCH slot if you enable the M.2 and U.2 ports.


No sir, there are five x16 slots on the X299 Dark, you simply do not understand what a x16 slot is. An x16 slot is a full length slot, then you have some boards that has a shorter x8 slot and even the X299 Dark has a x4 slot. Maybe a picture will help you understand?
 

The EVGA manual shows only a video card will run from CPU lanes in PE6, this has nothing to do while using M.2 or U.2 ports. The only thing PE6 does with drives connected to your system is drop them out of using CPU lanes to PCH lanes if PE6 is populated by a video card (any card using x8 lanes).

Once again, PE6 is -NOT- x16 slot -electronically-, it is x16 mechanically. One can physically fit x16 card in I but it has only 8 lanes to the CPU. And your questions are revolving around how lanes to CPU are utilized, not physical sizing of slots.
 
Regardless of who is right on that your attitude seems to be that person should be immediately talked down to by you if he makes even a smallest mistake. If that is what you really believe then you are overdue for awakening. Nobody is perfect, even the best ones make mistakes, and you too make mistakes. I could start picking apart your posts but I don’t think that would lead us anywhere (especially because you don’t seem capable of accepting you might be incorrect on something).
 
Instead I will just point two things (for sake of those that are reading this and actually want to understand what I have been trying to convey):
 
#1 You claim X299 Dark has five x16 slots. That makes it obvious you are talking about physical -SIZE- of slots which is -NOT- same as five slots with 16 lanes to CPU each. If later was the case that would mean 80 lanes to CPU and one should know that is impossible, these CPUs don’t have that many lanes.
 
#2 When it comes to your question could PE4 end up using PCH it has been already pointed out to you that would be impossible because PE4 is 16 lanes (x4x4x4x4 when bifurcated) while PCH is only x4.
 
With that said I will end this conversation and let you have the last word, especially because this and other discussions I’ve seen you engage in leave me with firm impression you seem much more interested in arguing in circles proving you are smartest and know everything best than keeping open mind to what others are saying.
