https://www.techpowerup.com/269082/cyberpunk-2077-graphics-comparison-video-between-2018-and-2020-builds-shows-many-differences Cyberpunk 2077 is the year's most awaited game release, and has been met with not one, but two delays already. Originally expected to ship in April of this year, it has since been postponed to September, and now to November 19th on account of extra optimization and bug quashing from developer CD Projekt Red. However, the recent gameplay videos released for the game by the developer showcase the amount of work that has gone into the engine since 2018, when we were first treated to a gameplay video. The video after the break comes courtesy of YouTube user 'Cycu1', who set up the 2018 and 2020 trailers side by side. In it, you can see extreme improvements to overall level and character detail (some of this can certainly be attributed to a lower-quality 2018 video compression). However, the video also showcases some lighting differences (I guess it's subjective whether this has worked out for better or worse, but the new videos supposedly make use of ray tracing). Another point that I'd like to call your attention to is that there seem to be some environment differences between the two versions - it seems that some environments were simplified compared to their 2018 version, such as the "Going Pro" mission - the chair and panels were removed from the environment and replaced by what looks like a garage door. Whether this was done as a way to improve performance is on CD Projekt Red's purview. Time of development has made this game look better in my opinion.

Apparently, in 2020, there is more stutter as well. Why is every clip in the 2020 demonstration running in slow motion, or running at normal speed with big stutters? You can see it all over, but a good example is at 1:41. BIG loss in frames while panning down.

It does look like they made some nice improvements. It's almost like the 2018 was medium detail while 2020 is very high detail setting. Also as for the comment of shuttering the game is still months from release so that shouldn't be something to worry about as they have a chance to optimize the game and before release we might even see a next generation of graphics cards that will make the highest detail settings easier to reach.

I have been avoiding all imagery and specific info on the game for some time now, but if the OP is right about the new clips utilizing raytracing, it sounds like you could have your answer right there.

True, but the OP also says "Originally expected to ship in April of this year, it has since been postponed to September, and now to November 19th on account of extra optimization and bug quashing from developer CD Projekt Red.". So, it was delayed from April to September, and then November, in order to 'optimize and fix bugs'. This ray tracing is a feature which has been added during this period; but if it is so stuttery and laggy, it can't really be considered an optimization or a bug fix. It simply becomes feature creep. If they wanted to release it on time, they should have focused on optimizing and fixing bugs, instead of feature-creeping more optimization and bug issues into the project.

Unfortunately, the second delay was expected due to the fact that their offices are closed. I even mentioned on GTAForums a couple months ago when CDPR announced that everyone was working from home that I hoped they would delay the release again if necessary, rather than release an unfinished product. I agree that they shouldn't be adding raytracing until after the game is otherwised finished. But most people understand that--currently--NVIDIA's raytracing is either a gimmick or a luxury, depending on point of view, and shouldn't be considered a standard for gaming/performance reasons. I actually pre-ordered the box that contains all the physical goodies--the first time I've pre-ordered a game since Far Cry 2 in 2008--but I can't play it until I build a new PC with stinksy Windows 10. I'm not in a hurry...the more interested I am in a game, the less interested I am in playing it until it's in the best shape possible. I may even wait until the enhanced version is released, who knows? I haven't even played The Witcher 3 yet.

T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G
