The reason I am asking is because I will be using this https://www.amazon.com/Ap...=1593028128&sr=8-3 and this https://www.amazon.com/gp..._title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8 to connect to my iPad a portable hard drive or SSD. If possible. Just checking to make sure this will work ? Of course I will provide a battery backup for power with it all. Sense I know a normal iPad won't be enough to power the drive.

I don't know if the splitter will work. depending on what ipad you have, you will need either a USB C or lightening port. If usb C. take a look here. https://www.hypershop.com/collections/usb-c-hubs
I have a iPad 5th generation so lightening port. Anything for that please? Thanks.

It needs to be powered, and I know the apple branded camera adapter is supposed to work. I tried a powered usb enclosure with a SSD and a female to female USB adapter and my regular lightening cable and it was a no go.

SSD is faster than a spinner & use much less power
SSD is almost impossible to damage ... spinner drives are easily damaged before the heads park
connecting to your Apple product ... cant help you there

The drive also needs to be formatted to a file system that apple can understand.

Also. WD has a drive with built in WIFI. might be your solution. Battery powered or USB to AC powered. It's called a passport.

Right now I am using this https://www.bhphotovideo....passport_wireless.html It works but 4k video files sometimes buffer :( The weird part and the kicker is only some 4k video files which is strange. I don't want to have to get 1080p and 4k video file for everything I do. I prefer to just keep 4k video files and be done with it. I know it doesn't make a difference on the iPad but who cares. It does at home. Yes I am using 5 Ghz wireless on the device. The problem is I think even 5 Ghz wireless is a lot slower than even just usb 2. When loading up files after I import them from my pc via usb, which is always quick it seems, I can feel the difference with 5 ghz wireless because on my iPad on my video player the thumbnails for videos load up slow but they load up in at least 5 secs or less but not instantly like normally.

I don't operate any Apple software or hardware, but I saw "Compatibility: Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).. or higher" so I thought that would cover it. My bad if that's not the case (or his bad for getting an Apple lol).
