I bought an EVGA x299 dark motherboard last year and recently purchased a 10th gen i9-10900x CPU and the motherboard will not POST.
I have spoken with EVGA in America and because I am located in Australia they have said to contact Taiwan.
I need a new bios chip with the latest firmware in order to make my motherboard operational.

You would think after contacting EVGA in the states they could have immediately sent me the chip.
I sent Taiwan and email last night and waiting for their response.

Shipping from US to Australia is far more expensive than Taiwan to Australia. Taiwan is where the region support office for Australia is located. Hopefully they get back to you relatively quickly.

    1. Cool..They sending you an updated BIOS chip for free?

    2. Don't forget to flash the other BIOS' (that board has triple BIOS) to the latest (Version 1.23 as of now) also: Grab the latest BIOS..Boot with the working BIOS..Slide the BIOS selector switch to the other/older BIOS'..Then flash them in Windows or in BIOS according to the instructions..Done.

    3. See "First Boot" in your Motherboard Manual, page 57, about the CMOS checksum error you may get after updating/resetting the BIOS so that you don't think something is wrong.

I cannot believe this message came from Taiwan.

We are expected to send out the bios by EMS (postal), but due to the reduction or cancellation of flights by airlines, airmail services (including air parcel and EMS) to Australia are suspended.
Please let us know once the shipping is allowed in your local, and we will send it to you as soon as possible.

Who knows when I can get it.
I don't want to spend $800 for another CPU, an i7 just to get the MB started.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I found a less expensive CPU
    Intel Core X i5-7640X 4Ghz Kabylake-X Quad-Core s2066 6MB Cache for $300
To get the MB operational, then I can replace it with 10th gen i9-10900x.
    What a workaround!

Take it to a local PC repair shop and have them put a Compatible CPU in it and flash it real quick like..Most shops have some CPUs laying around, call and find out..Shouldn't cost much at all.

Just confusion, i intend to order i9-10980XE for my X299 Dark ( my current bios 1.23 with 7940x cpu). So if i got i9-10980XE i need to request the new bios chip from EVGA? or it will be worked automatically with the current latest bios 1.23? Thanks.

10980xe is compatible from bios version 1.19 and up, so no you don't need to request a new bios chip.

I just got the MOBO and am using the 10900x.

I just received the x299 Dark motherboard (purchased via Amazon). I once everything was hooked up, the mobo gave off three beeps. I am assuming this is a memory issue. We played around with the RAM with no success. After looking into the issue more we saw it could be something with the BIOS. We tried changing the BIOS to number 3. When we tried to boot up the system we heard 2 short beeps and a normal one. The EVGA system set-up did appear on screen; however, it is shows a warnings "CMOS Checksum Error". We continued with the set-up but it the system does not setup.

Can I just flash the BIOS or do I need a new chip?

If you can get into the BIOS or Windows you can flash it..If you can't get into the BIOS or Windows, you can't flash it.

    Welcome.

Get into BIOS 3..Then slide the switch to BIOS 2 and flash that one..Then slide the switch to BIOS 1 and flash that one..Don't flash BIOS 3 until you're sure BIOS 1 and 2 work..In other words, don't take the chance on borking BIOS 3 since that's the only one I understand you can to get into.

BIOS installation instructions from a USB flash drive are shown on the BIOS download page..Version 1.23 is the latest.

I would just update all 3 BIOS chips to 1.23 and be done.
