Hello forum,
Just got my 1080ti SC2 from second hand and decided to repaste/clean the GPU for better temps (Idle: 58-60c / max: 85-87c).
Will this be enough Thermal Paste to cover the die?

Im using Grizzly Kryonaut and have changed Thermal Pads.

Best Regards Jonas

Cover the entire die with a thin layer. If any small portion of the die does not get Thermal Paste, it will cause issues.

I typically use the edge of a credit card to spread the TIM.

Also, space out the url where the dot com is.. EVGA . Com for example. I will correct the link and post it for you.

What do you think of my CPU die application?

Looks to be a Good amount ...... However as you assemble - you are hoping it spreads evenly to all parts of the GPU Die & you get 100% coverage.

That is Not a heat spreader - like you find on a CPU ... that Is the GPU die

I also prefer to spread the TIM on the GPU

Amount & placement along with assembly is all part of the "mix"

If you have extra TIM - do a test assembly - then remove & examine ---> or go for broke & run your GPU & see what the Temps look like

GOOD TIM 100%

BAD TIM spread - Dry spot

use 1/100 of that much, excessive TIM is a plague.

I have succesfully changed the Thermal Paste, but now i have run into another problem!

Both fan are spinning at 100% and i cant use my Fan curve in precision XOC (have already tried re-install, but did not work)???

My temps are fine, but the fans are acting like im overheating????

CPU is at 40c and ram at 40c.

Make sure the fan cables are fully seated to the fan headers on the pcb.

Update: just uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. After fresh nvidia driver installation only GPU fan is at 100% (before both), my temp is at 39c. This didn't occur before I decided to repaste and spread the paste on the die.. instead of using dot method which didn't give me this issue..
What to do????

Update: I opened up the GPU and did everything over. Booted up the pc and did not re-install Precision XOC (Nvidia drivers was already installed) and when i turned on Discord and the one GPU fan started going crazy all over again... I literally dont know what to do now...

I have already searched google empty! I think it's one of those "temp sensors" are acting out..

What to do about this?

Faulty fan controller or faulty fans is the problem. Only solution is to rma.
