hi
im new to this forum, but i would aprecciate any help and advice people can offer.

my graphics card "PCB" says bios is "80.80.31.00.80"  but when the card is in pc, it says "80.10.3a.00.80" (confirmed my Gpu-z).. i bought the card 2nd hand from "CEX" store in UK. back in january. it ran ok for 2 months then it started 2 crash constantly.(in property it showed "code 43 error".  when i did rearch online i see other people had issue. and some said it was bios and to update bios. but to which do i update? the 1 on back of pcb or the 1 GPU-z states i have on their?

and how would i update the bios/flash.. ive never do this to a graphics card before..

I'd try reflashing to the original to see if it helps fix your issue.

You can download the original vbios here.

To reflash the card simply download nvflash, and then drag and drop the .rom file on to the nvflash64.exe to reflash the card.

i did that and the flash did not work properly. the screen was pixelated in places. .  i need to try and get pc into safemode and try another flash..  as that one seems to not be the correct one

You should uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver before you flash or you might get a bunch of pixelation and stuff.

i uninstalled drivers.  flashed the bios .nothing.
it all installs but when i go to device setting..  its show"!" next to card and "code 43" error. i run "cpu-z" and "gpu-z"  cpu-z shows most info, but no "graphics memory"(blank)and sometimes for the "mhz" ..  gpu-z  the same "0" for memory .   everywhere i check online says "gpu failure" i got this card in january 2020 from "CEX store uk",it worked until march 2020(just before lockdown), i changed my case as old one was to small(base unit)i upgraded to a better bigger case. but could not use as crashed. i got artifacts and then BSOD. i have since been running on "amd 7470 1gb pcie card", as cex cant refund until stores open up. nearly 3 months now ..

Yes, its supposed to say that if the drivers arent installed. When youre ready, try to install a older driver thats closer to when the card was a active sku and youll have better results probably.Newer drivers on cards this old are routinely problematic. Im also using a 780, but im using 387.92 driver on win7 and its been 100% great so far. Is CEX a reputable store for you guys? Can you put a picture of your card up for us? Just make sure you cover the serial number, but everything else we need to see on the back pcb.

You should flash back to the original VBIOS if you flashed to a different version, but you may end up needing to bake the thing if you want to try saving it.

Solder cracking on the PCB was kind of an issue with cards of that era and will cause woes such as artifacting, BSODs, freezing..You can disassemble the card (easy to do) and bake only the PCB like this which should reflow any solder cracking that exists, then hope for the best.

If solder cracking is the problem, and not a component failure, baking it will most likely fix it..It might fix it for only a short time, or a long time, or, not at all.

If you bake the PCB, do it only with the GPU chip side up..200C (preheated oven) for 10 - 15 minutes should do nicely.

i tried 3 different driver versions. on win 10 and on win 7  with same results..   i have posted the card to cex.. i bought it in store. and was told i had to wait until stores re-open(its been about 3 months) , they finally last night agreed for me to post it to them and they will refund , so i can get another card ..

thanks to everyones help.

yes cex in the uk is normally pretty good. i buy most of my graphics cards, memory, hard drives. from them over the last 4 years. and when im doing low budget builds for people.
