I just "upgraded" to version 2004 and lost onboard 5.1 surround audio, 2.0 seems to work sporadically. Looking for solution apart of rolling back to 1909.
Tried reinstalling audio drivers, clearing registry etc without luck.
NVIDIA HDMI audio is not affected.

Good old windows updates. Is there anything that it can't break?

This may or may not help - I've had issues rolling back feature updates and just ended up installing windows 10 again from a thumb drive.

Talked to both Microsoft and EVGA. At this point they are both pointing fingers at each other. Pathetic!  EVGA audio driver is from 2017!?!?

Did a google for "Creative Sound Core3D driver" and found this - it's worth a shot.

But, yeah - I'd blame M$ over others. They have a nasty habit of changing driver related stuff and breaking things. A fresh windows install would very likely fix the problem. M$ has serious issues with upgrades, even within windows 10 to windows 10, still to this very day, and a fresh windows install is sometimes the only fix. How do I know this? Oh, I've got a little story about a VPN TAP driver. Nothing made it install except a fresh windows 10 installation - that's with 2 weeks of emails back and forth between the software company and me, trying various, involved troubleshooting steps (safe mode uninstalls and installs, registry editing, etc). Stupid, idiotic, pathetic, but it worked and took a couple of hours vs a couple of weeks of banging my head against the table.

In case you finally decide to go the fresh install route (choose the Download Tool Now option):

Thanks, I tried that driver, but no luck. Not yet ready for the fresh install. I have a non-standard RAID setup which is a hassle.

The latest driver I've found/used is the July 2019 release below:

No idea whether it works with Win 10 2020, however it's far newer than what's available from EVGA (2017).

Thanks, but  these did not work with Win 10 2004. I also reinstalled windows from scratch, also did not help.

Reinstalled 1909 and it didn't work? You can defer updates until M$ fixes their mess up in that new release.

No, it reinstalled 2004. EVGA support suggested it was a bad upgrade so I reinstalled, 2004 is the default version.

Try this to get 1909 (you'll want the X64 version of the 1909 build):
    https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Windows-10.shtml

You can use a program like Rufus to make that iso into a bootable thumb drive if you don't have a DVD/burner:
    https://rufusdownload.org/

You can use this to defer the feature update to 2004:

Check here, maybe you found a solution (or at least an explanation):

OK, I think I nailed it. Here are steps, but I think it was the last step that finally resolved it.

    1. Disable onboard audio in the BIOS
    2. Uninstall all audio drivers from Device manager
    3. Re-enable onboard audio in the BIOS
    4. Install EVGA x299 Dark Creative Drivers using Windows Vista Service Pack 2 compatibility mode
