the apex is 399. i already ordered one from newegg. 423$ after tax.
the maximus extreme would be the flagship competitor. thats a 750$ board.

the dark will be competing most with the apex. it needs to be damn near that 399 or 499 price at worst. 925$ is an insta flop, and im gonna buy it also, but not for 900$

Oh! $400 is a nice price for the Apex. Details on the Apex are still pretty thin. Anand saying 16x 70A power phases. In terms of features it includes TB3. Apex boards are usually very solid.

Yea i ordered one. I kinda expected worse price wise. The DARK is gonna be a really tough sell if not priced extremely competitively.

The ASUS boards go on sale 5/20. The APEX is looking really attractive for $400. I normally wait for EVGA, but I dislike the word soon. It’s the same type of “soon” your parents told you as a child when inquiring about going to Disney World. ”Soon” can be such a drag :-(

On a series note, the i7 10700KF should be a nice price since it excludes the onboard GPU. I’m not looking to really OC that much. With a stock turbo clock of 5.1Ghz that’s going to be crazy out of box.

I currently have a Z270 EVGA FTW with an i7 7700K. I’m ready to upgrade!!!

I dont really understand buying anything other than the 10core. The 10700kf already exists. Its called the 9900kf.
I feel you on the soon semantics tho. Soon for the c622dark was over a year later

Well, if you understand how someone bought a 9900KF, then you understand why they might buy the i7-10700KF instead for less money! Meanwhile the i5-10600KF looks alright too at $240. You've got OCing, you've got hyper threading and okay it is a lower bin and memory speed support is lower, but I expect with a half decent motherboard and cooling you will be able to get up to 5MHz and 3600MHz respectively.

I am in no hurry, but will be reading / watching test results with interest.

What is that Matt? UK preorders of the CPU from 14h00 GMT today? Should start to see the reviews/test results in that case.

Intel embargo until late this month, overclockers are allowing preorders on the i7/i9. Let's see the price.

Thanks Matt. On Amazon UK:
i5-10600KF £306
i7-10700KF £461
i9-10900KF £604

Heh, heh. Well... I am sure they will sell. Personally I'd rather put the money towards the RTX 3080 Ti which is rumour to have 40% performance increase over the 2080 Ti. These CPUs would be a marginal boost for me most likely.

Hmm, seems so! OCUK prices seem reasonable. 9900K used to sell at £480, so 10700K selling at £399 seems like a decent saving while getting a marginally better CPU.

If you don't like the price then go buy AMD processor and video cards instead.

Or stick with what you already have, if it works well for you, eh? But the Amazon pricing was c.20% more than OCUK so that made the launch look uncompetitive. As it stands at OCUK prices it makes more sense.

I am interested in the i5, but I would want to see what kind of OC you can get out of them before committing so I will wait for reviews. And I don't care if I miss the launch stocks... I have a system that already works well for me.

TBH though I just want to see what my sample can do frosty.  At least I will have something besides AMD to bench this winter when the Z490 Dark will hopefully be in the supply chain...

i do feel bad for the EU folks.

EU folks have the Apex, which is equal if not superior in my opinion to the Dark (Asus turboV, proper readings out of Cpu-z etc)

Yes free. And in its own seperate box. Very strange. Shipping international isn't cheap im sure, and its just plain weird they sent it sperately.

Jacob said "soon" when I asked him if they were gonna have any news or details on CPU launch day.

I was thinking $600 so I guess that's the good news it's lower lol compared to the rest of the high-end boards out there, it was definitely above $500 for sure.
