hello

So I am having an issue with the Precision X1 or the adapter's firmware.
On default settings the fans are mainly quiet but once the temp reaches 75C one or two fans spin up furiously and slow down after a second or two. unfortunately this makes a weird and disturbing noise I am trying to get rid of.
I downloaded Precision X1 to enabled "Fan Curve Control" setting Preset to "Aggressive", now the noise has gone and the GPU cools down slightly better (~70 C instead of ~75) but the problem is that the settings are not being saved! The fan setting resets to it's default after system reboot and I have to open Precision X1 again before launching any GPU intensive application.
I'm seeking for a way to permanently fix this without having to launch Precision X1 every time

Please advice, thank you!

VGA: EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC ULTRA
OS: Windows 10 x64 (updated)
Driver: 445.87

Precision has to be running for your fan curves to work..Enable "Start with OS" in the settings, then "Apply".

Fixed RPM can be saved & will work without Precision running

So, you could try 80% fans - Apply then Save ... when you reboot PC fans should run at 80%

You will have to watch your temps & adjust the "%" fan until you find the right Mix of sound quality to cool card

Your temps might be cooler if you run your case fans faster ... You Need to get the heat out of the case ... where the GPU cooler dumps most of the heat

Start With Windows:  Need to Check 2 boxes:  "Start with OS" & "Apply previous settings on load"

Warning:  Not when looking for Best OC ---> cause when it crashes --> those are Not the setting you want to load on reboot

Thank you for the advices. The chassis fans are configured to spin up faster when the GPU temperature increases so I can't do anything more than that. And for the curves... guess I'll keep precision running at startup to properly control noise level.

That's no biggie and is what you'll have to do if you want software fan control to work.

Also know that you can change the curve line to steppings and vice-versa by double-clicking inside the Fan Curve Editor..Steppings is kinda like a 'semi-manual' mode because the fan speed will remain fixed until the next temperate setpoint is reached..That can help with noise reduction too.

You can delete setpoints by clicking on them and pressing the keyboard Delete key..You can add setpoints by clicking anywhere on the fan control line.

Welcome to the forums, by the way..Be sure to read the Ultimate Self-Starter Thread For New Members sometime if you haven't yet..Lots of good info there for you.
