I just connected drives to my two RED sata 3.0 ports (Marvell 9128 chipset), and neither posted as being connected in BIOS.
In the BIOS "SATA 3.0 Storage controller" is set to "Enabled"
Am I missing something ?

I attached a Samsung Pro 840 to the red sata, it is registered in the bios, but windows 10 (20H2) won't boot of it at least not for me

since I am bored, I will try to install windows from USB 3 to SATA 3 (red port)

well so far so good it is installing just fine - sees the drive during install and off it goes!

looks like there is still life in this SR-2

    Hi Henrik !
The red ports are very ....wait....... veeery  sloooow
The slowest part in a SR2, ops...all ata ports are deadly slow.
Buy a 35 dollars LSi scsi card on ebay and u can use the speed of  SSDs.
And if u have a couple of SSD i a drawer put them up in a Raid 0.
every drive boost about 400-500MB\s , so 4 ssds in raid0 is about 1600-2000MB\s.
8xssd over 3000mb\s in best case
    just saying

    2x EVGA SR-2 with X5690, 48/96GB RAM.
    1x intel Platinum 48core system with 9GPUS, 192GB ram all cpus\gpus watercooled
    2x AMDThreadripper builds with 48GB ram,nvme raid.
    Intel 12900k,5xNVME raid, 3080,ddr5
