Hey all Need a little help and suggestions with new build.

Trying to boot to bios on new build. Processor is i5-9400 and 16 GB Corsair Vengence LPX. Both are on the list.
On the first try I had 4 x 4 16GB of ram and I got the C code. Checked all Connectors and voltages on the PSU. All Good
Removed to sticks of ram 2 x 4 8GB left in slots 2 and 4 and now C code is gone.  Now I get a stop on A2  and then D6 and then stops on A0.
A2 and A0 both say "IDE detect" so I am guessing bios sees the mouse and Keyboard. D6 description is "No console Output". Is that saying it doesn't see the monitor?? If so the Monitor is on and not asleep. Tried 2 different HDMI cables.
Any help or suggestion appreciated.
Thanks,
cyt

D6 = GPU isn't able to be detected.

That mobo supports an i5-9400, but, only with BIOS version 1.12 or higher.

Your mobo may have both older BIOS' in it..It has two non-removeable BIOS chips you can select from by moving the selector switch above the SATA ports and restarting your PC..You can try the other BIOS if you haven't yet.

You may need to put an older supported 8th generation CPU in that's on the CPU Compatibility List to see if it passes POST, then flash the BIOS to the latest version (Version 1.14 as of now) if it does and roll from there.

If you don't have a compatible 8th generation CPU to try, take your box to a PC repair shop and have them try it real quick like.

Updating to the latest BIOS, if needed, might solve your problems.

An i5-9400 has integrated graphics, so you can take out your video card (if you're using one) and connect your monitor to a mobo graphics output and try it.

Can you check what is your BIOS version? Where did you buy this motherboard from? If it from EVGA store then you should have latest update Version to 1.14. If from other store then you mnight need update your BIOS! Can you please check in your BIOS setting see at the botton right corner you will see 1.**

To answer all the suggestions. Also tried bios 2 and stops at 79. Went back to bios 1 no change. Bought on Amazon. Processor and ram are on the compatibility list for the mobo. Don't have another processor to try.

Let try full reset on your motherboard! First you need switch off your PC and remove power from the wall. OPen up your case and you will see the CMOS battery on your motherboard so remove battery and let leave for rest for 10 mins to drain out the little power..
After 10 mins try boot two rams stick on 2 slot and 4 slot and usb for keyboard and mouse only. Replace battery back on motherboard and try test boot up....

OK killed all power, pulled battery, just 2 sticks of ram in slots 2 and 4, nvme on mobo, usb mouse and keyboard and display powered on (not in standby) nothing else connected.
Exact same thing stops at d6 five beeps and then stops at A0.

Did you plug and use integrated graphics on CPU not GPU Graphic card?
One more thing can we have your full PC spec and what Windows OS?

Z370 Classified, plugged into HDMI port, no graphics card, have not managed to get thru post or get monitor to be recognized, so have not installed op system.
Seem to be quite a few discussions of this happening but can't find resolution. Very frustrating. Wanted this mobo for the hdmi 2.0 output specs.

I think you should try use Display port on your motherboard to boot up?

    NOPE

    My  new motherboard (Z370 Classified K)had BIOS 1.07 ( 2 years old )  and not 1.12
Got direct from EVGA last month.  Used a Intel G5400 to change bios.
had one on hand because of others that got MB with old bios and wanted to use I9-9900 chips.

Like I said before, put a compatible 8th generation CPU in the thing and see if it boots..Then update the BIOS if needed.

If you don't have/can't get/borrow an 8th generation CPU, take your box to a PC repair shop and they'll do it.

I think it probably has an older BIOS that doesn't support an i5-9400.

Did you boot okay with Intel G5400? If so you need update to 1.14 that full support 9th generation CPU for your i9 9900 CPU..
You have old version 1.07 is still support 8th generation CPU because that i9 was release before Z370 is still 8th generation CPU which didn't update for 9th.
For Z390 they have latest BIOS version for 9th generation CPU....
Only way you need update to 1.14 then you will be happy bunny....
