I have personally found different issues can be fixed by finding the bigger hammer!!!
Out of endless hours dealing with issues sometimes you just can't take it anymore..you beat your phone or you do a reach around and shut the computer off at the power supply...no warning just shut it down and suddenly it is working as it should of in the first place...???
Feels good and suddenly it is working with no issues...HUH
Seriously we have all experienced it...if you haven't give it a try...problem solved and it wasn't working as it should of so just toss it...lol
Now the regret...I spent how much and I just destroyed it...SMH
Okay lets hope we don't go there...lol
But...BUT
I couldn't deal with watching servers reject completed WU's anymore and I said
FINE....I don't want you to have it..you just lost the privilege of my energy
You don't want it...you can't have it...my choice. Not yours.

While FAH was running I deleted the corresponding work que folder that had tried 10 or so times and I deleted it ...
No courtesy to FAH Client no warning just deleted the same number for the same work que, while the client was running...
FAH client discovered something has changed and said updating for a bit and the Send disappeared...
Hopefully they got the message cause I don't get any stalled send WU's anymore.
Rant over....

I haven't had to suddenly power off anything for quite sometime...Windows 2000 or maybe Win 98 se...just remembered it was Windows 7 with the endless "Shutdown"
I have however found a way personally to relieve the frustration of watching a completed WU fade away...
    I kid you not..
Knock on wood I haven't had anymore completed WU's sitting idle for days on my computers.

You apparently do not know the smell of gunpowder. Nothing stresses me when my ears ring and my sinuses can only smell that sweet aroma. When done, I grab my wife and a couple fishing poles and go further out back. 1-8 hours later and the house is warm with WU's. LOL

edit, this weekend is forcasted to be beautiful mid to upper 70's and sunny. First this year in my area. I plan to get the garden set and get some fishin time in. The only time I will grab a hammer is to pound a spike through a log. Walk away for a while My Folding Brother!

I re-boot my machine every other day I have notice that it really matters (clears the crap out of memory, though I have utilities that do far more than that).

Slapped waterblock on second 2080 Super wrongly and spent days debugging.

Now I'm back and folding chasing you guys! Muahahaha!!!

I wish... the cooling solution is near its limit with 2 cards and 1 9900K in the loop. 2x 360mm slim rads aren't cutting it. I'm hovering around 55C folding only on GPUs.

What case and fans are you using?

I mean two slim 360s should still be ok unless they have low FPI while being so slim (size?).

I'm using Be Quiet! Silent Base 801 with dual tempered glass panels (ordered an extra from them). 6x Corsair ML120 Pro. Slim rads yes, 27mm but 22 FPI (yeah, beware of this when choosing between classic and latest versions of EK slim rads. The classic is < 20FPI I think.).

    TLDR;
This build has almost all the "don't do it"s in cooling. First, the case itself is one of the worst when it comes to airflow because, surprise!, it's for quiet operation. So I run it all the time now with the front panel removed so that I don't starve the front intake fans. The top radiator is mounted offset from center and the ventilation holes are just nice decorations. Compound to that my fault for not removing the sound dampening foam up top, means I have a top radiator that's probably 60% effective only.

I also have all the waterblocks lined up in parallel. When I was building this rig, I brushed away countless advice not to do this (it was 1 CPU + 1 GPU then), by saying I value the looks more than performance. Now every time I drain and refill the loop, the CPU to GPU tubing takes maybe an hour to fill up because my GPU blocks are gushing out liquid faster than my CPU block.

There's a simple fix for the loop flow/ pressure, and that's to go serial. I have it planned in mind and it will take only 1 90degree tubing to do that. Moving my lazy ass to plug in the heat gun, take the mandrel out from the box, and holding a piece of PETG over the heat is another story altogether. Especially now I found that my rig crushes every single game I own in 4K ultra.

The top radiator fix is a little more tedious. Simple fix would be to tear out the foam at the top. Next would be to drill holes in the top. Or go all the way by dumping the case top radiator mount bracket, dremel a hole at the top to drop in the radiator+fans from the top, stick a Demiciflex filter over them. But that would mean I could go push-pull. Or take the other 360mm from the front, stack it with the top radiator, and put a 420mm in front. And then buy another res-pump to stick at the top for dual loop...

I'm not very sure how to post pictures here, as that icon never works for me so here's where I post my rig:

    Nice show rig build.

I try balancing both performance and aesthetics as best I can but usually slant towards performance.

Make sure to keep those fans running at max as that's more than double the FPI (9 FPI) my thicker rads are (55mm).  I think for 20+ FPI you'll want to be 2K RPM at a minimum.

I remember in the old days guys had 30 FPI Koolance rads running @ 3K RPM. lol  They were screamers for sure but they could also dissipate lots of heat with less rad that you see in most builds today.  Of course there's a balance to that as well.  Quiet Mode: Low RPM + Low FPI = More Rad and vice versa, etc.

Re: How to fix most computer problems... 2020/05/07 04:54:57 (permalink)
Sounds familiar. I had to move my rads to external case due to clearance issues. I picked up 60mm thick rads, noctua industrial PCP fans (3k rpm and IP68) and Koolance Quick disconnects. Only po problem was the rads fit but blocked drive bays and the QDC impinged on the GPU as I still needed at least 1 bluray drive installed for Majemkv and plex. So I bought another case to house my 480 EK 60mm rad and AlphaCool 420 60mm rad. They just barely leave room in the Thermaltake P100 for the pump and PSU.

No matter how efficient the cooling of the system is, the heat still goes somewhere. Although my rig is sitting next to an open window, I'm starting to limit the hours it can fold due to weather becoming warmer recently. It's 90F outside today here in Norcal. :|

Still heating the house with WU's here in up-state NY. Happy the 90 + degree weather has not yet hit here as much as I love it. The rigs aren't ready just yet. I have an off the wall project going on to give them the cool air they need which in turn will give my water heater semi pre-heated water. Just got all the parts to complete the project. Next , need to find a day to do the work.

    Edit, the plan

    to do,

All run on the photovoltaic panels already out back. Folding MADNESS L O L
and the icing on the cake ,

My water well is 180' deep and provides ave 40-45 F water consistently. This would not be the first time I have done this. It will be the first to serve my own needs. It is fairly common practice as primary cooling in wine cellars and a few other applications.
