As I've gotten back into folding I've had trouble getting work units again, but what makes it seem even worse is that only my secondary GPU is having trouble, the primary one (which I want to use for gaming too) isn't having trouble, kind of wish they'd switch places.

ipkha So to add a flag, open Advanced Control. Select Configure, click the expert tab. Add a flag with the little plus symbol. Name it Client-type Enter Advanced as the value.
Thanks for that. I think I used to have that set a while back but since doing it again, my rig started folding again while it stays idle without this input. Will this affect the continuous points total ?

No, it just broadens the type of work your system will accept. Its only a slight caveat that they might be more unstable, as I've rarely had problems with them.

setting it to advanced seems to have worked well for me, haven't had to wait long to get a work unit so far.

When you say unstable, you mean computer locking up and or restarting randomly? If so, that happened to me once or twice yesterday while I was folding and AFK.

Generally they won't cause extreme stability issues like that. Usually you just wind up with a string of failed work units and a stopped client. Once I got a 10 in a row and the system stopped folding altogether until I restarted. That being said, any workload could cause your symptoms depending on how the system and driver respond. These newer core22 projects can really stress a system. I've seen close to 100% power on the GPU and seen reports of dual thread consumption. Either of these conditions could lead to an emergency shutdown, but normally just crash the program and generate a failed wu.

To add another data point: I also switched to advanced a few days ago and no stability issues so far and have been getting consistent WU's.

I am also having difficulties with receiving WUs on a constant bases. For the time being, I'm doing some crunching@evga for rosetta@home. Rosetta lets you work on covid-19 wu for the cpu only.

The past 48 hours have been smooth sailing for me. I haven't had to nudge it by pausing/unpausing and both of my GPUs are busy folding away.

My 5 slots are hit or miss, the 12 cpu threads from the 3900x tend to be the busiest unfortunately. Fun fact, depending on WU, the 12 Zen 2 cores at 4-4.1ghz are almost as powerful as 1050ti.

Been doing my remove-reboot trick all day long. I think I never got any continuous WU queued at all. The reboot worked like 1/2 the time but it's just more of defeating the server assignment and timeout systems.

They cut back on core 22 servers and are not issuing enough work units to keep GPU's feed. All their efforts are going into CPU folding. I complained to Greg Bowman about it a day ago and still no change.

Looks like the heavy lifting is towards CPU workloads. I wonder if it is easier to design CPU workloads for Covid-19. Either way, GPU projects are way down and I have a hard time believing they can't set at least 1 server aside for GPU work.

Using the advanced client flag but my 1080 Ti spends roughly a quarter of each day idle. And it's been that way for the past week. Definitely some major WU shortages still going on.

Same here, work seems to be getting a little better but still usually have at least 1 out of 3 GPUs stuck on ready with retries at 1hr+ in the mornings. One odd thing is my 1660Super keeps getting large 30K+ base credit WUs that take 4-5hr+ while my 2060s are getting 8K-10K base credit WUs. Wish it would be the other way around to keep the 2060s from sitting idle between WU due to finishing them in 1-1.5hrs Also, I got about 1.5mil in backlogged points awarded over night which was nice to wake up to this morning!

looks like the thread got quite and people are seeing work. this month i had it worse than last its now the 28th and i am maybe at 20 mill this month. i have gone days where the GPUs are quite. one other thing someone mentioned all the demand to fight Covid is the reason for the lack of work. i went on the [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] site that it logs me into when i restart the program and i dont see an option to fight Covid, i have it always selected to any disease. so if people signed up for Covid-19 where are the WU that we have always had no trouble getting? and if i did want to help with Covid which seems like a waste of time since there are no WU available how do i select that option.

Really? Which client number do you have...it is listed under the star top right..."About" in the Advanced Control. If you are using the Web Control it is a drop down on the any disease section I know it is on the 7.6.9... You can download the latest here https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/Make sure you have your antivirus Exempt the Fahclient directories I believe you can install the latest FAH client directly over the one you are using. I am going to stop now because this is hyjacking the thread.. Not my first time..lol.so.. Good Luck PSSST...go here... https://forums.evga.com/N...projects-m3046300.aspx
