To "do the Math to compute heat loads"

TDP & Calculating Delta-T

(excerpts)

First tip: Google is your best friend to help find TDP (Thermal Design Power) of your components to be cooled in your loop.

(CPU watts @load + GPU watts @load + GPU watts @load+ pump watts) x 0.85 = Loop TDP watt estimate

To help calculate a full system TDP, you can download the interactive TDP and radiator estimation sheet (link) I* put together to help you.

Any problem with mixing dual pass radiators with xflow raditors. Iknow flow rate is higher with the Xflow over dual pass. Planning a new build with 2 loops and if I mix the radiator types it would shorten up water lines. 2 x480, and 2x360.

I don't see any reason you can't mix them, but i suppose maybe the movement in the xflow radiator might get slowed down a bit but probably not enough to make a noticeable difference in temps.

As long as you aren't mixing metals when mixing radiators you'll be fine!

What's everyone's preferred cooling loop?
Pump/Reservoir -> Card/CPU -> Radiator. Or Radiator -> Card/CPU -> Pump/Reservoir? I got a separated loop

Only bit of loop order that really matters is that your pump is at the bottom or being fed by the reservoir.   I just tube mine up so the runs are the most convenient.

The only part I do is radiator -> reservoir -> pump. CPUs and GPUs are throwing around the same wattages again, so it doesn't really matter. Whichever order makes for less tubing tends to be best.

Do Rad ports on top or bottom affect loop performance (custom loop)? Using a Bitspower S1 Piump. I am told its basically a Laing DDC pump
Cpu Block,  2 240mm x 30mm Rads, 1 120mm x 45,  bitspower flow indicator restrective Eiswolf GPX block w Internal DC2600 lt pump

Port orientation matters only so far as the pump intake. The pump cannot be sucking on air. If the pump is in the bottom of the loop, or has a reservoir on top of it then it doesn't matter... but if the pump intake is from your radiator and it will be sucking on air at the top of the rad, then you need to orient the ports down. Gamer's Nexus did a video explaining this with CLCs/AIOs if you still have questions

Great compendium on watercooling for beginners. If anyone is worried about trying it, don't be. As long as you take your time, you'll be fine. It's worth it too in my opinion if you have the cash to spare ;)

Is watercooling absolutely needed? Got a 5950x and 3090 but alot of the parts are out of stock that i would need to water cool. Would a good fan suffice?

Colder hardware = faster hardware

New hardware - just launched is always hard to find blocks for ....

Yes, air cooled can be OC however the Voltage & heat issues would limit your Max performance .... & all those fans @ 100% may be on the loud side ... depends on your room temp

Well it seems like I did everything correct, temps are better than the AIO by over 10C on all cores... unfortunately, looks like the RGB/LED portion of my CPU block is a dud... out of everything that came with the kit, the ONE THING I did not test, the lighting on the CPU block, is the one that that's not working.
What are the odds?
