That's where I got it from as well.  In the Windows update settings.  But I have my Group policy set to only notify me of any updates.  I have to manually D/L & install them if I want them.  I don't like anything automatically updating that I'm not expecting...

I ended up sticking all the routine updates on a 30 day delay after all the issues reported here and on news articles in the last 10 days.  Hopefully they've pulled/sorted/fixed them by then.  Usually I just let them update within a couple days but there's been some crazy stories about these recent updates.

I have our machines set for 14 days deferral, but I'm now wondering if that is long enough...

Apparently not, I had mine set for 30 days in the Advanced stuff (Win10 Pro) and the 3269 update (think that's the right number) reinstalled itself last night.  It's only been like 3 weeks since I yanked it out.  So I had to uninstall it again and now I'm trying out that "7 day snooze" thing since I found out you can push it multiple times.  Now I have stuff deferred until mid-April supposedly.

Ok so I downloaded a update.  Forgot which one but it was the only one in Win Update.  All hell broke loose when I restarted.

- My M.2 game drive all of a sudden wasn't being recognized so I decided to restart the rig.
- My PC got stuck in the BIOS screen and wouldn't boot past it while the keboard was not locked which I thought was odd.
- Hard restarts, shut PSU off, drain power, etc.  Nothing.
- Checksum error
- Special red button putting everything on default did the trick.
- Put back OC profile in the BIOS and we're back.
- Pls don't do that again.

That's why I have "Metered connection" turned on (so Windows don't auto-download/install stuff) and the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package (wushowhide.diagcab) to check for/hide indefinately/show Windows updates, so I can wait until the "Testers" tell me if there's any issues.

I hid KB4540673 from the normal Windows Update this morning so that it won't even show up unless I "unhide" it..I'll still wait a little while longer.

Wondering if that's an update that can be uninstalled or not..Some can't be and a System Restore would be in order.

Oh it's been set on metered since moving to Win 10.  I just decided to update because I haven't seen one in a long while and well it bit me.  Still get random restarts and crashes.  I think I might just system restore back to the day before of this update.

If you set it to metered can you choose specific updates to install?  Or is it just "install what's available" once you choose to do updates?  I'd really like to take control and install updates individually like with older versions of Windows (xp, 7, etc.) and it sounds like some people here are doing that, but I'm not sure how they're doing it.

My updates don't auto install but will just show up.  I download them and install when I feel like it with the metered option.

Also, I just did a system restore prior to these recent updates.  Keeping fingers crossed otherwise I think my PSU is starting to show it's age.

Anyone have thoughts on the last few rounds of updates now including the ones from end of Feb early March that were supposedly pretty buggy?  Was thinking of letting things update soon hoping the buggy ones have been fixed/pulled/etc.  Or should I just hit that 7 day snooze a few more times?  I did see a story today that the recent optional update is causing some blue screen issues, but that's optional and won't auto-install so not worried about trying to avoid that one.

I came back to my machine with it having restarted since doing the latest updates, again.  Always happens when I'm away but never in front of me which I feel is odd.  Maybe I'am being hacked, idk...lol

Hmm maybe I'll hold off then. I had that for a few months last year after some updates. Took months to stop.

So, updated an older Dell 17 inch Vostro Laptop with my SSD & 8GB RAM - then upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro 1909 - clean install & then used the Dell Key with No issues ... free update
